Sherry and Neela- I completely agree with both of you! Sherry, there does indeed seem to be a double-standard with Angie and Brad vs. other celebs.

I HAVE occasionally heard other celebs criticized for not staying home with their kids (for example, I visit celebrity-baby blog as often as I vist Pittwatch. After Nicole Kidman had Sunday last year and procedeed to go back to work with in a month or so of the birth, people were saying things like "If she wanted Sunday so badly, why is she back at work already?").

However, it DOES seem to Angie and Brad who are criticized the most about that. In fact, I've noticed that the h8ters can't even seem to agree on just what they should do in terms of the kids. By that I mean that the h8ters complain when Angie and Brad aren't with their kids...But then they also complain about Angie and Brad "dragging" the kids all over the world.

i meant to say angie hadn't shot a film in a long while, until salt came along. otherwise, the last movie she actually filmed was changeling, and that was over a year ago.

i think brad and angie are in some ways lucky with their careers. they can have long months off, even a year. i think the public has a general misperception that the more popular actors work non-stop because they come out with films one after the other. some films get made in 3 months, and the actors can rest for the next 6 months till their next project arrives. so, really, they can still be there for their children. angie hasn't worked in a while. she and brad met their job obligations by promoting their films and attending the shows, but they're always home to their kids in a zippy. Their arrangement works for their family. It may not sit well with the rest, but then, not all of us have the same values and views.

I can totally see your point. I guess as a "newbie" I didn't really realize that you must hear a lot of negativity--which is good for no one! :) I am absolutely in agreement with what you said--it shouldn't be a double standard for different celebrities! I was just shocked by feeling a little "attacked" by some posters by my comment. I guess I was hoping for a discussion, not to feel bashed--but no hard feelings!!!--I think it is great to be open and talk about. I think Brad and Angelina get the most attention (positive and negatvie) because they are the most fascinating and glamorous couple out there right now--in my opinion. Also, NO ONE really knows all of the facts except for the two of them! Thanks for your response--you are obviously a kind-hearted person. :)

Chloe: I think the big problem is that it ends up coming back down to the old argument of working vs. non-working mothers. Mothers who work outside the home are criticized for not being with their children enough. Mothers who are at home are criticized for not contributing to the family income and not setting a good example for the kids. Mothers like me get criticized by both sides because I work from home.

You can certainly disagree, but then you have to be willing to allow others to disagree with you for what you state.

Just like business meetings or the occasional schmoozing dinner might be a necessity for some work, just like doing an extra evening shift to cover for someone who's sick might be a necessity for other work, attending premieres is a necessity for Brad and Angelina's work. And I think it's a wonderful example to the kids that Angelina is in Cannes to support Brad because it shows the kids that their parents care about each other and each other's work.

A lot of actors and actresses have children and continue to work, but somehow it's only Brad and Angelina who get dragged through the mud with the whole "they should stay home with the kids they wanted so badly" and I don't get that. How come no one is outraged that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes both continue to work and they aren't blasting them for not staying home with Suri 24/7? Does it make a difference because of the number? Isn't that saying that one or two kids don't need their parents? Of course not, but somehow people get so overly concerned about the Jolie-Pitt kids because neither Brad nor Angelina has shunned their work and holed up at home for good.

You can hopefully see how that gets annoying to fans.

Wow, didn't mean to offend anyone with my comments. I didn't realize it wasn't OK to disagree. I do believe they are beautiful people and have a beautiful family. I just voiced that I feel sorry for thier children as that is not how I would choose to nurture my own children. Maybe my husband and I go overboard, but I don't think you can ever get back the hours you are away from your children. They grow up so fast. Money and promoting films would not be enough to keep me from them--not even as one parent at a time, but both together. I have given up a lucrative career and have gone without a lot of things, including a larger home, etc.. in order to maximize our time with our kids. Once again, my opinion. Not trying to start a problem. I appreciate Sherry's time in posting updates about this fascinating couple. It would seem people who are fascinated by them would also be comfortable enough to agree to disagree on some things. Just my opinion.

MSN has just reported that Angelina Jolie was in the Hague, Netherlands to watch the International Criminal Court put a Congolese warlord on trial for crimes against children. There was a short interview as a UN representative. Seems legit *shrug*
