Could Katie Holmes Next Project Be “Finding Neverland”?

81020NR1_CRUISE_T_B_GR_11 Way back at the beginning of January, there were rumors swirling that Katie Holmes was offered the role in “Finding Neverland” on Broadway. Sources were saying that Katie had also taken part in a workshop in New York and that “The workshop centers on Sylvia’s relationship with J M Barrie, who she inspired to write Peter Pan.”

I found this small little blurb on Back Stage, that may mean something or it may not. Who knows! It’s a list of New York Production Listings and this was listed on it:

Finding Neverland, a musical based on the 2004 film about J.M. Barrie, the playwright who created Peter Pan. The book is by Allan Knee, author of the play upon which the film was based, and the score is by composer Scott Frankel and lyricist Michael Korie (Grey Gardens). A reading was held in January with Christian Borle, Kate Baldwin, and Katie Holmes, directed by Rob Ashford. Harvey Weinstein will produce. Target opening: 2010.

Okay, so we know that she read for the part and the target opening year is not until 2010. We also know that Katie has been practicing her dancing and singing skills.

So, my guess is…we are going to see Katie in a musical! What are your thoughts?

I think that Katie is heading for Broadway again too……210 thats quite a while away, hope she has a baby between now and then, how great would that be.

Roger Friedman wrote about this and he had said that it is true she will be in Finding Neverland but it won’t be a big part, she won’ t play silyvia instead she will play J.M. Barry ’s wife

As an actress, I think it would be wonderful for her to take to the stage again! I’d like to see that. I think, from a professional standpoint, it’s an outstanding move on her part. 2010 is 7 months away! It’ll come quicker than you can believe!

From a personal standpoint though, I can’t figure out how Tom and Kate are going to work out the logistics of it all. Tom has a bunch of movies coming up (enough to keep him busy for a couple of years or so) and IF Katie wants to get pregnant and stay home with the baby for a few months, she could have issues with being able to work on Broadway. It’s a difficult tast to balance your personal life with your professional life, especially if you’re a woman with children.

Katie is hot right now. To take time off and stop accepting roles while she’s pregnant and has a newborn could be an issue. That’s atleast a year of your life if not more and in terms of a career in Hollywood or a good role, that’s a lifetime. Being apart while she’s working on Broadway and Tom is working elsewhere on his films could also be a problem.

I understand the difficulty and I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes right now. Those are really tough decisions to make. Career first and more family after, or the other way around?!?!? Katie is young. She could wait a couple more years for another child, but as a Mom I totally understand her NOT wanting to do that. However, turning down a good role when she’s so hot might not work for her either.

Its a tough one and as I said, I don’t envy Katie having to make those decisions right now.
