Crushable Quoteable: Lady Gaga Thinks Her Talent Is Keeping Her From Finding Love

In a Vanity Fair piece, Lady Gaga discussed the difficulty she’s had finding and keeping love. She explains that she once broke up with a man while he was on his knees mid-proposal, because she felt he was only thinking about marriage out of desperation. And what’s behind her Gaga’s relationship troubles? According to her, men are intimidated by her talent:

“If I go to the piano and write a quick song and play it back, they are angry with how fast and effortless it is. That’s who I am, and I don’t apologize for it. But it’s a hideous place to be in when someone that you love has convinced you that you will never be good enough for anyone. I had a man say to me, ‘You will die alone in a house bigger than you know, with all your money and hit records, and you will die alone.’”

What’s interesting here is how such a strong sentiment doesn’t make its way into Lady Gaga’s music at all. She writes the type of larger-than-life pop music that doesn’t leave room for anything personal or accessible, and one can’t help but wonder if that might be a hindrance to a relationship.

Is it her talent that dudes are intimidated by? That’s certainly probably part of it, but it also must be hard to date someone who basically belongs to the public.
