The Daily Star has formally apologized to David Beckham for the nasty rumors they wrote about regarding David and the Hungarian model Mariann Fogarassy last month. The paper claimed that David made a play for the leggy beauty after an AC Milan match. He supposedly invited her to a private party and that this all infuriated Victoria.
On June 11th, the paper retracted the story and printed the following apology:
ON April 30 we stated in an article headed “Becks & The Blonde Beauty” that David Beckham had made a play for Mariann Fogarassy after a recent AC Milan match and that he had invited her to a private party which was due to take place in Milan. We now accept that the story was completely untrue.
We unreservedly apologise to both David Beckham and to his family for making these allegations and for any distress and embarrassment our article has caused. We have also agreed to pay his legal costs.
It must be so frustrating for David to live in the spotlight the way he and his family does. Rumors of unhappiness in their marriage and infidelity are near daily occurrences. Good for David and his legal team for fighting the papers for printing such outlandish stories. Maybe getting caught every once in a while will make them think twice about what they print.
