The erotica-novel-turned-NC-17 movie 50 Shades of Grey will cast the main roles of Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey soon and we’re all excited to see who they pick. And nervous. Especially after hearing from E! News that Sunday Boling, the movie’s director, wants Dakota Fanning to play Anastasia Steele and Chris Hemsworth to play Christian Grey.
I’m neutral on the Hemsworth casting, but pretty upset about the Steele casting. Little Dakota Fanning cannot play a sextress. Not yet. It’s too soon. I still have all her heartwrenching scenes from I Am Sam and her touching scenes from Charlotte’s Web stuck in my head. Yes, I know she’s in college now and I know she’s en route to being a grown woman, but she’s still 12 in my head and I can’t imagine watching her in a sex scene.
Which is exactly why she might do it. Nothing changes your image with the public faster than a sex scene. Everyone will review her and rave Dakota Fanning’s all grown up now. She’ll go on from this role to get every other sexy role in the industry. And that will be followed by plastic surgery to secure her spot as America’s sexpot, closely followed by drug addiction, a few months in Celebrity Rehab, a 20/20 tell-all interview and finally a recurring guest spot on a CBS sitcom you’ll watch when there’s nothing else on.
I see it all happening right before my eyes. Which is why I’m hoping Dakota Fanning doesn’t do it. Not for a few more years, not till she’s out of school and working fulltime. I just need a few more years to adjust to her being all grown-up.
I saw Oliver Jackson-Cohen pictures. He is sooooo HOT!! Good for Christian. Jennifer Lawrence as Ana. She is pretty! <3 Good New couple.

Oh my gosh no no no NO! Dakota? I’m reading the second book and absolutely not this is terrible. Here it goes Hollywood is going to ruin this amazing book. Fuck my life seriously. She is beyond pale which yes fits in the character… But that’s it! She’s blonde and I’m sure if they dye her hair it’ll look terrible jeezus what is wrong with universal I really hope this is a rumor.
But then again I think I’m gonna feel like this toward every girl that’s going to play Anastasia because I’m gonna be in my seat filled with anger and jealousy

I want to see Henry Cavill as Christian and Alexis Bledel as Ana. Cavill would be a perfect Christian.
With out a doubt Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Christian and Emmy Rossum as Ana. Don’t just look at pictures of them see they’re acting. Oliver in the movie Faster and Emmy in the show Shameless. She has such a wide range and I’ve seen her act like Ana in EVERY WAY. She has done nudity and has an amazing natural body/ beauty. Oliver plays a self made young gorgeous millionaire, that found love and didn’t think he was capable.

No not Dakota Fanning.If she is in the movie I wouldn’t watch it.It doesn’t sit right with me.I’m not sure who should protray Anastasia Steele.BUT Henry Cavill would be the ultimate Christian Grey…he’s got everything that is in the books character.Hmmmm the body,oh yes how sweet!If Henry was cast every girl would want to be Anastasia…..
I know he’s too old but Hugh Jackman would be perfect and Mila-dont know her last name> OR Christian Bale the other guys cant get that dark
I’m not very familiar about the book, but i don’t see anything wrong with casting Dakota in a sexy role. She’s a beautyfull young women and no points in living in the past.
How would you have liked if people said you looked like a little girl and weren’t interested in seeing you in a sex scene when you were 18 Jenni? Probably really insulted, no?

Maybe Shailene Woodley from Secret life of American teenager show. She is nominated for Ana’s role on People mag.
I agree. They are casting the votes on other actresses for Ana in people magazine online. I don’t like any of them for Ana. I was thinking about Sarah Hayland or Lily Collins. What do y’all think?

I agree! I think Dakota’s way too young for the part. I haven’t read the book but from what I’ve heard, isn’t the character around 22 or 23 anyway? On wikipedia it says Anastasia is just out of college so the actress would have to be in her 20′s or something.
I don’t think she’s too young.. I just don’t think she fits the role! She’s got the ‘innocent’ part down but there is not a single thing that is remotely sexy about this girl. I think Henry Cavill and Victoria Justice are the PERFECT couple to play Grey and Ana. VJ is gorgeous, young and not too well known outside the tween world. But she still has an innate air of untapped sexuality.
Jenni, who do you think is a better fit for the role?
Elle Fanning? JUST KIDDING! I think it should go to an unknown actress who is the same age as the character in the book. I think seeing anyone we’re familiar with on screen in an S&M role will distract from the film. Who do you think should play the part, besides Dakota?
