Dancing With the Stars Breaking News: Two Dancers Leave the Competition!

The season hasn’t even started and we already have two injuries serious enough to take two of the celebrity dancers out of the Dancing With the Stars competition!! ABC just released the news that Jewel and Nancy O’Dell are both injured badly enough that they have had to withdraw from this season’s competition before the season even begins.

This is horrible news for both of them, since I’m sure they both had their hearts set on winning the coveted mirror ball trophy. Here’s what they each had to say about it:

Jewel: “When the doctors told me my injuries were so severe that I couldn’t walk, let alone compete, I was devastated that I couldn’t continue the show,” said Jewel. “I have every intention of being at ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this season supporting my husband, Ty, and his partner, Chelsie (Hightower). I hope to be back on the show in the future.”

Nancy O’Dell: “Beyond disappointment doesn’t even being to describe how I feel about not being able to continue on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” said O’Dell. “It has been one of my favorite shows since Season One! But I have torn the meniscus in my knee in two places, which requires surgery. ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was a great experience. I’ll miss working with my partner, Tony Dovolani, and all the other wonderful people on the amazing production that is ‘Dancing with the Stars’”

Both stars will be on the season premiere on Monday, March 9th, but won’t be dancing. There will be other cast changes announced on Monday too. Hmmm…I wonder if they will bring back someone who had to leave another season due to injury, such as last season’s Misty May-Treanor

Stay tuned. I’ll give you the scoop as soon as anything is released.
