Danielle Staub's Past Comes Creaking Out

I have been waiting for this moment ever since I read the bios of the New Jersey housewives. Danielle’s over the top resume of her black Amex card and being engaged 20 times were mysterious, especially since Google doesn’t even produce her old modeling shots. It looks like we are finally going to get a glimpse. The preview for next week’s Real Housewives of New Jersey looks like it will uncover some of the mysteries of Mrs. Staub.

I immediately tracked down the book Dina Manzo is holding up in one scene; Cop Without a Badge and this is the description:

“Kipps (Out of Focus) deftly labels Maher an “excitement junkie,” and the aptness of that term is clear from the first paragraph of this high-speed bio. From a broken home, Maher early became addicted to fast cars, and at 17, driving a stolen car, he led police on a wild chase from the Bronx in New York City to the Catskills. For this he got a prison sentence of up to four years. After escape and re-incarceration, he had the good fortune to encounter detective Jim Doherty, who became a second father to him. He then built a career as a confidential informant for various police departments, the FBI and the DEA. His fascination with fast cars continuing, he met at a drag-racing strip the scion of one of Colombia’s drug families and for several years was a serious cocaine addict whose habit wrecked his first two marriages and derailed his career as an informant. Eventually he conquered his addiction and now works for a security firm in New Jersey. From all the derring-do here emerges the portrait of a man who never grew up. First serial to Penthouse.”

The deal is that Danielle’s mug shot is in this book and that this is the involvement she must have had with the “Colombian cartels” and “kidnapping” that has been hinted at all season. Unfortunately, you can’t search the book on Amazon or Google books, so I’m going to have to track this one down to see what the fuss is about. The book also appears to be out of print (you can only get it used on Amazon) so I’m going to have to truck it down to the library to see what’s up. Why isn’t the library open 24/7!?

  5. Miami circa 1977

Come on – I was up close and personal with the 70’s Bogata importers in Miami….just because your husband was a slime does not mean you are – she was sucked into the “wow” factor of the danger he presented himself as being – she is too desperate and too needy to have ever been of any use in real trafficking or underground info – all I want to know is – since all he was is a rat – and apparently a bad one at that – where does all the $$ come from for that house? Working for a security firm doesn’t get you that life…..she needs to quit looking for someone to buy her and be her own boss…….no one wants a 70’s model anymore

I finally got my copy of the book from the library a couple of weeks ago. I am enjoying the book. Danielle doesn’t show up until far, far in the book. She was a real whore that girl. lol.
