David Archuleta took home the “New Artist Award” at the 2009 Alma Awards last week and he performed this acoustic version of “Contigo En La Distancia” and it was absolutely, unequivocally beautiful. If you can listen to this and not believe that David is incredibly talented you must be deaf. Even if you don’t like his style, you gotta admit that this kid has got some pipes!
Of course, he also looked so adorable! He’s gotten so good at conveying emotion in his performances too. So, sooooo good!
David never ceases to amaze me. His singing touches my heart and soul. No other singer can do that… maybe Josh Groban, but nothing like David.

The American Idol, Freemantle, 19 Entertainment and Fox owe David Archuleta an
apology for not selecting him for the season seven title. It has nothing to do
with fan votes. That’s only on the surface. Behind the curtains is who calls the shots. Simon clearly admitted this. They should make up the win for David by
supporting David one hundred percent for all Grammy nominations. After what they
put David through, they should make sure he wins all and deservingly so.

Let’s see now. David Archuleta performed “America the Beautiful” at the U.S. Open a week ago Sunday, and then “Contigo en la Distancia” at the ALMA’s on Thursday (broadcast on Friday), in both cases receiving rave reviews. So, what was his favorite part of the week according to his latest blog? Spending time with his mom! Thank goodness David is so grounded. Family helps to keep it real while at the same time balance out all the negative aspects that come with being a celebrity. Also, in that same blog David credits America’s servicemen and women for inspiring him, and thanks the Latin people for his cultural inheritance. This is why David has such a devoted following, and why his fan base keeps on growing. Not only do we love his prodigious and glorious talent, but we love the person God entrusted with such gifts. It’s truly an honor to support such a great artist and outstanding human being.
I think David did such a great job. It’s great that they recognize his talent. I hope he will get more recognition in the future as he gets better material for his music. I love his first album; however, the songs there except for probably three of them are not that great. The album was rushed and the quality suffered. I’m glad that Crush was such a big hit but I’m hoping he gets to sing songs that really have great and meaningful lyrics that appeal to his broad audience and that his songs will be able to showcase his great talent and voice.
Yup, I think there will be many more awards for this young man!!!! Love his voice.
One thing I love about David Archuleta is this. Even though some of us have watched everything David has sung since his first Idol audition and everything older that made it’s way to Youtube, and some people have even been part of his life in Utah and have heard him sing so much longer – David can still surprise and awe us all. We wondered a lot about what David would sing at the ALMAs but we never imagined he would sing in Spanish to a roomful of Hispanic celebrities including icons like Rita Moreno, Edward James Olmos and Antonio Banderas (not to mention the entire prime-time TV audience). And this was on top of awing us earlier in the same week with his amazing performance of America the Beautiful at the US open. Wow. I know that replaying those two performances will help to ease the wait for David’s Christmas Album Oct13! Amazing.
David Archuleta proves why he is the best male pop singer in the business today with this stunning performance. Wow, just wow. Jive Records needs to step up their game – this dude is a winner, and deserves the best team of songwriters, songs, producers and promotion at his disposal. Wow, just wow.
I agree with everyone especially la. He was so relaxed and professional performing live in front of, not his own fans, but some of the biggest stars in the industry and was flawless! He really did look and sound fantastic! Thanks for the article.
I am not surprised at this performance at all…David is blessed with a gift..THE VOICE………and not forgetting his beautiful soul..God bless him.
This performance should go down to the history of best performances done by any vocalists in terms of vocal perfection. Power, precision, artistry and emotional delivery under complete control. Stunning!

Oh yeah…David Archuleta sounded AMAZING on the ALMA Awards show and was so deserving of his award. I have been fortunate enough to meet David this summer and attend many of his concerts! David is such a talented singer / songwriter…and he continues to amaze me with every performance he does. He is constantly changing up his music to keep it fresh and his concerts are so much fun. Loved this performance! Can’t wait for his Christmas From the Heart album coming out Oct 13! I already pre-ordered it!

DAVID ARCHIE, represents many second and third etc. generations of latinos that love thier culture and love being an AMERICAN and He represents what is GREAT about AMERICA. Here we have a smart , strong, humble,kind and respectful young talented person that americans can call one of thier own. I’m very proud of the attention that he is getting and deserves.

No one does emotion better than David. What is this young man going to be like when he is no longer a teenager…let’s say at 25. His voice and his presentation is only going to get better. David is a perfectionist so you know he is going to be improving daily. I think he is near perfect now. Can I handle more perfection????
