David Archuleta Sings "Crush" on Leno

American Idol season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta, performed his first official single “Crush” on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and I have to say that the more I hear that song, the more I like it.

I think he did a good job but I think that he started off a little nervous and then then music was a little too loud during the choruses which, I think, took away from the performance a little bit.  Also, was it in a lower key than normal?  The verses seemed a little huskier than on the recorded version.

All minor problems aside – that kid can really sing and is he ever cute!!!

All being said, I thought the performance was a bit of a disappointment. Seeing him live a couple of times as well as his many stellar performances on AI, this was a bit of a letdown. I sort of felt David would agree. The band did nbot look right behind him, and they were way to loud. He appeared to be a little pitchy and the recorded version of Crush can’t be replicated live. I also thought he struggled with the lyrics after “I just got to know”. Still love him, but overall they need to work out some things.

Band was a bit loud compared to the mikes in the choruses but he sounded good! And looking good too – I have missed those camera closeups since Idol ended. I think it went really well.

BTW I heard AOL Sessions will have their own live recorded session of Crush, My Hands, Touch My Hand, You Can, and A Little Too Not Over You around the same time the album goes on sale (Nov 11).
