I heard about this earlier in the week but I just found this video. Apparently, American Idol contestant, David Archuleta, was yelled at by his father who supposedly disapproved of his performance (and allegedly brought David to tears). This wouldn’t be the first time dad, Jeff Archuleta, has been involved in these types of rumors. He was accused of harrassing David’s strongest competition on Star Search a few years ago and was banned from the set. Oooooh. Makes you feel a little sorry for David, doesn’t it?
I think its sad when the parents act like that. He seems like one of those parents that is living through his kid. I’m not really a David A. fan but I do feel bad for what his father is doing. Keep your chin up David. Karma is a B#*ch
I’m not sure if all this stuff is true or if his father is one heck of a PR man. Stories like this will kick in the sympathy vote for those who would like David A to win in order to be rid of his “stage Dad”.
Sadly though, I see another child star who is in for a rough ride as an adult.

first of all this is very sad if it is true especially because of what we been seen with all of our young entertainers,hopefully this is not another one,because i’am a david a fan…….
awww that’s sad but true. he did this too him more than once durning star search and even harrasse the other contestent who ended up beating him later on. it’s more like he chooses what david does and just wants to much from the best 17 year old. poor baby david. i love him so much…
You know what.. you really wonder whats going on… because he does act kinda scared/timid.. so maybe that explains it…. damn.. this kinda makes me want to see him win now.. just so he can say F*uck you dad
What’s strange to me is that people who are not familiar with tabloid journalism don’t understand that these are almost without question completely unproved, bogus stories. When journalists use terms such as “sources say”, allegedly, reportedly, they are grasping for straws. Anyone that has followed David and his family for the last several years knows that this is not true. There is a big difference between a supportive parent and a stage parent. David is fortunate to have 2 great parents who are extremely supportive but are in no way domineering or abusive in any way. At this stage in the competition, David is apparently getting the most votes and probably has a lot of people who are upset that he is doing so well. This is a cheap shot at trying to throw dirt on a real nice kid with a great family who have a lot of enemies only because America is so supportive of David. His goodness is a reflexion of his upbringing. I commend his parents, they have done a great job with their son. The Star Search story is totally ridiculous. Whoever made up the story doesn’t even know what happened on Star Search as David was invited back the next year with his Dad to be on the show for another season. CBS wouldn’t have invited them back as confirmed by a former crew member who worked on the show for 2 years. This is totally an attempt to try and discredit David and his family and is shameful.
I don’t know who Andy is, but he obviously has never met Jeff Archuleta. Anyone who has talked to him for more than 15 seconds knows that he is an abusive, overbearing, angry little man. Some of the crap they are saying about Star Search is exaggerated, but there’s enough truth in there.
So Carrie, you seem quite sure of this, perhaps based on a face to face meeting? Also, you seem to have more details behind the Star Search accusations, please can you enlighten us as to why you have such a strong opinion about him as well as what you know about the circumstances surrounding Star Search?

I knew David’s dad in college, for more than 15 minutes, and found him to be a consistently likeable and cheerful person. I’d be very surprised if he was abusive.

Can you not see the sad look in that kids eyes? He needs to be left alone to make his own decisions. His dad IS a rabid maniac and it’s been proven over and over. I will NOT vote for JEFF ARCHULETA and nobody else should either.
I’ve seen a huge change in Davids connection to the songs he is singing. He would often make comments about his the message in the songs, and now he seems to struggle with them, detached or distracted. Just go back and listen to his John Lennon song..It was awesome! He appears cought between disappointing his dad & being able to endulge in the wonderful life unfolding infront of him. Lets pray for him, and that his dad lets David be happy doing what feels right in his heart, then…God will lead him in the right direction.
