David Beckham is an ambassador for UNICEF and on Friday, he accepted a cheque from American Idol winner David Cook for $12 million dollars to support “Malaria No More.”
David’s acceptance of the cheque was part of a giant event where celebrities accepted cheque for their charities on behalf of Idol Gives Back. The televised event, which aired in the middle of the American Idol season, raised over $64 million dollars for charities around the world.
“I saw firsthand with my visit to Sierra Leone with UNICEF last year how devastating malaria can be to a country,” David said when accepting the donation. “On behalf of Malaria No More, I would like to thank those people who gave so generously to Idol Gives back. Your money will save lives and that is something to be very proud of.”
I think all these celebrities involvements in charities that are important to them is a tremendous thing.
