David Beckham Launches Malaria Charity

David Beckham was one of several sports stars on hand at 10 Downing Street yesterday to launch an international anti-malaria campaign, with Andy Murray, Denise Lewis and prime minister Gordon Brown.

Malaria No More UK is dedicated to raising awareness about malaria and is working hard to provide netting for beds so that children and families can sleep safely and soundly. Only £5 can purchase a bed net and protect a family from malaria. Their ultimate goal is to ensure everyone at risk for malaria has a bed net by the year 2010.

David will sit on the Leadership Council for the non-profit. At the official launch, David and the other sports stars, including tennis star Andy Murray, played tennis and football with the world’s largest tennis net, spanning 100 feet and made out of blue mosquito netting.

“It’s truly incredible to think we can stop this killer disease forever and it’s such a simple thing to do,” David said. “For less than a cost of a football you can protect a family from dying.”

Thank you for your support in the fight against malaria! We need more people to be proactive, we need more voices. Netting is a simple purchase with a longterm impact, But what about those, right now with the disease who have no choice but to die ? Did you know it costs under 10 usd to get them treatment?
3000 children die a day from malaria but you can give them a chance to survive for 10 dollars. http://Www.malaikaforlife.org. Buy a bracelet. Save a life.
