There have been rumors flying all over the internet that David Beckham is going to play for AC Milan over the Galaxy’s summer break. For a few weeks, there had been no official word from the Beckham or Galaxy camps.
However, an interview posted on David’s official website all but confirms that David is indeed going to Milan to play for the summer. However, he remains firmly committed to the Galaxy and to Los Angeles and, as far as I can tell, his family won’t be joining him in Milan other than for a few vacations.
Here’s a videotaped Q&A explaining the Milan decision:
” I’ve a great chance to go there, keep fit and play with some of the best players in the world,” David said. He adds that after playing in the European circuit for so long, he’s not adapted to the shorter Galaxy seasons. He feels that training and playing with AC Milan will make him a better player, a more conditioned player, and that this will make him better for the Galaxy.
Makes sense to me! AC Milan seems really excited by this move, and why wouldn’t they? It’s a huge deal to secure the most famous soccer player in the world to play for your team, even if it’s only for a few months!
