We’ve already seen how Medium makes a car explode, and now in a new “Behind the Scenes of Medium” video, David Cubitt takes us behind the scenes for another stunt, that’s going to be featured in the next new episode, “An Everlasting Love.”
Apparently someone gets hit by a car, and it doesn’t even look like Allison is driving! So, you know, progress. It’s kind of interesting to hear about the safety precautions they take when a person throws himself in front of a car. I never realized how many pads the stunt people wore in situations like this, although I guess it makes sense that you would want a fair amount of protection while you’re throwing yourself in front of a moving vehicle.

I love that behind the scenes stuff. And so cool that David Cubitt is hosting it. We don’t see enough of him doing this kind of stuff. Maria Lark is cute, but I’d like to see more of the rest of the cast doing this kind of thing. I hope CBS will do more of these when new eps resume in January. That stunt looks pretty scary though, doesn’t it? I think that once before in season 2 and the stuntman was injured doing it. Good to see that apparently no one was hurt filming that. Merry Christmas, everyone!
Very enjoyable! I agree with you, Dawn. More, more, more! Complicated stuff.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Fun to see this. Can they have David narrate a behind the scenes for each episode? Pretty please? If the do, I promise to never write another snarky comment about Deputy Doll.
Wasn’t there an episode in Season 1 or 2 with a scene in which Lee caused some guy to run out into the middle of the street and get slammed into a windshield that looked just like this?
Happy 2010!
Yes, nansee, there was. It was actually a breakthrough role for Scanlon and Allison’s relationship. They went to talk to this guy who’d gotten out on probation I think and when he saw them as he walked down the street, he took off and a car hit him. Devalos yelled at both Allison and Scanlon and Allison started crying and Scanlon took up for her. The clip is very similar to that episode.
Nansee, that episode is Too Close to Call. It’s got a commentary on the dvd by Migual Sandoval and the writer or director (I’d check but my dvd drive has decided to break on me). I like his commentaries best.
It showed how the relationship between Allison and Scanlon had evolved since season 1.
Always nice to see behind the scenes stuff, especially with David Cubitt. He’s rarely featured on the dvds. I think all he said on the season 5 one was how he got flu just before he become Officer Scanlon. I don’t wish flu on anyone but I was rather taken, more so than normal, by Officer Scanlon!
Thanks Betty and Linda, now I remember it better. Linda, I hope your DVD drive is feeling better soon.
We’re still in the process of moving and all of my Medium DVDs are in a box … somewhere. I was so going to pack carefully in order to find things easily, but I don’t know who I was kidding. I even lost some Christmas presents that I’ve decided to give out as Groundhog’s Day presents when I finally find them. As for “Too Close to Call,” I had recalled that whichever episode the scene was in, it was an episode that I liked because Allison and Scanlon were out stirring up trouble together!
[...] They pretty much focus on the car accident that was featured both in the promo and in this behind-the-scenes video. In addition to that, however, we have a pretty nice picture of Allison and Lee, so there is [...]
