Last year’s Australia’s Next Top model winner Alice Burdeu topped her prize–an eight-page editorial spread in Australian Vogue–with it’s cover! This was an unusual feat for a Top Model winner (except when the cover is included in the prize), and Alice went on to be one of the mist successful Top Model winners ever.
However, recent winner Demelza Reveley will not have the same fate. Vogue editor Kirstie Clements has already publicly said that there are no plans for Demelza to be on the cover.
“I am not planning to (put Demelza on the cover), no,” Clements told the Mercury. “The contractual agreement was for an eight-page editorial in the issue and I already have another cover ready to go.”
Clements also made it very clear that a cover is not usually in the works and that Alice was an exceptional case.
“It is not part of our agreement because to be a cover girl for Vogue is a pretty specific thing and when you are working with the reality show it is a very hard thing to pledge,” she added.
Clements also expressed concern over the “Demelza being a bully” issue and is planning to devote a readers’ forum to the subject.
To be honest, I’m quite glad Demelza isn’t getting a cover. I thought Alice was amazing (she’s possibly my favorite contestant ever!) and a Vogue cover–even an Australian Vogue–is a precious and important thing for a model.

Demelza was my favourite but after the bullying tragedy. i kind of hate her.
Okay, there are so many illogical statements, i don’t know where to start.
Calling Demelza a bitch isn’t the same as the type of bullying she did. Pulling water over someone’s head to get a reaction out of her is what this kid did. Are they of the same caliber? No. Do you understand? Probably not, but at least try to. Please.
Kristie Clements isn’t being a bitch for not giving her the cover either. She’s doing her job. If she’s obligated to give the kid an 8-page spread, then she must do it. But no where did it state she had to forfeit the cover to the kid. She’s doing her job, the same job she’s been doing for countless years and has kinda been doing well at.
Yes Alex often talked behind other contestants backs, tried to fatten them up, and was a bitch. And yes, Demelza did give her apology on camera. But she then proceeded to say in an interview how she got the brunt of the attacks for being the ring leader, and how she wasn’t the only one at fault. To be honest, the fact that she’s trying to push the blame on others cancels out her half-hearted “sorry” she gave on camera.
I think she’s a bitch who will never be in the same league as Alice Burdeu. And doesn’t deserve the Vouge Cover.
Because let’s be honest, who makes the covers of Vogue? Models like Coco Rocha, Agyness Deyn, Chanel Iman, Lara Stone, Abby Lee, Jessica Stroup, Daul Kim, uhh any amazing model. Not Demelza

Of course she didn’t deserve the cover. She hasn’t even gotten work since her win. She is not that good. She is just a pretty girl.
I think her behaviour was gross and, actually, so was Sam’s if you guys remember her joining in on the bullying (as well as a Beck and Alyce). All of them were jerks. I think Alex should have won or maybe Caris.

From the beginning Demelza was my fav, i think she absolutely deserved the vogue cover!! she is stunning and amazing model- the best out of the cycle!! as for the bulling she apologised, and well, hey, that a model for ya!! they are all bitches, most hide their true selves to camera but demelza just wasnt fake,she was herself!! at the finale Kirstie Clements voted for Alex!! so that tells us she clearly didnt want demelza to win!!! therefore why would she give demelza anything more than what she had to, im sure is alex won she would get the cover buecause thats who kirstie wanted to win!! alex was the big bitch on the first day the girls arrived in the house!!!! i sooo glad demelza won over alex!!! alex was a fake bitch (worse than demelza!!)

K. Clements disdains Demelza because of her, bullying over Alamela. Clements should know better, she is not dealing with a 21 year old model… she’s just 16 years old for criss sakes get over it. it’s natural. the way you criticise her is a form of bullying (you so hate bullying right?!)and you think the little girl’s a bitch?! well look at yourself whose the bitch now?!
as for Demelza not getting the cover, is okay because there are other models out there who deserve it better than demelza. but as Clements said she has a long way to go, she’s just 16.
the age is not an excuse to her bad behavior, Demelza is also at fault she has to be careful of her actions ’cause very action has its consequence….just be a good girl.

You know, it occurred to me that no matter which view of Demelza is ‘right’ (i.e., whether she is a deserving winner or not), this fact remains: a win that generates so much controversy and debate can only indicate that there was something wrong with the win, and that it wasn’t the best outcome. A Top Model should be a good, clean *role model* – without question.
And someone who dares to say it out (like Kirstie) should not be considered a bully.

Kirstie sent out the right message. Demelza is a bully at heart, no matter how many times she apologizes. She will continue to be a bully and she should NOT be glorified.
Well u know what i think , the biggest bully here is Kristie. I guess she thinks that since she’s the head of Vouge publist she has the right to choose whom she thinks should get Vouge cover spread. What about the open apologies that Demelza given to the public. What about the other girls who also put a prank on Alamela. What about the 2nd placed winner who like to talk bad behind other contestant back. What about that. Kristie i guess you are the biggest bully here and mind you we dont care a dam about your magazine. With the recession comming in the year 2009 we hope your magazine will be in the trash along with you. Look at the the mirror because it reflects your true self. YOU A BIG BULLY. Demelza and other models, you have other magazine in Austaralia who can bring you to the top. VOUGE Australia you dont need Kriestie cause she is a looser.
I hate Demelza with a passion. This win sends a bad message to teenagers and bullies, like they can get away with their actions and that’s not true. Demelza not getting the cover, in my opinion, is fantastic. She got to the final 2 because Jodhi loved her, and Jodhi, with her whole fettish for 16 year olds, got rid of the most deserving top two Caris and Sam so her little miss Demelza the Bully could win.
I personally think that Demelza should have lost or given up the title. If she had, she’d have a chance of redeeming herself. She’ll forever be remembered as the bully, and she’ll never overcome that, and I don’t think that she really deserves to overcome that. But if she’d given up the title or lost, she’d have some chance of repairing her reputation, and I think that the way people percieve you can be more important than winning something.
I mean, I know you shouldn’t care, but when you are starting in the fashion industry, you can’t afford to be a bitch. When you’ve reached Naomi Campbell or Janice Dickinson stardom, then you can have an attitude, because you are already established. When you are Demelza and bully someone on national TV, you’ve pretty much remembered for being a bitch – and NO ONE wants to sign a bitch.
I have to say I was more disgusted with Foxtel for airing the incident (what a grab for ratings), but the fact that so many people have ganged up on this girl shows me just how wide-spread bullying really is in this country, as well as hypocrisy. When are we going to lose this pack mentality we so often fall into and rely on our own, educated opinions? Personally, I hope this young girl, Demelza, does well for herself, but also that she truly learns from her mistake, else she comes to realise what it truly means to be a fake. As for Alamela, hopefully she can bounce back. I know I did…..eventually.
Demelza should definately have gotten the cover of Vogue, I was disappointed when i found out she was not going to be on the cover, I have never purchased Vogue & would have if she was on the cover. She is a gorgeous girl & will make it far. Get over the bullying, although I do not agree with it & think it was cruel, she was not the only one invovled & she will obviously learn from her mistakes & grow up. We all do stupid things when we are young, Demelza’s was unfortunately on a reality model TV show. Alex was my least fav, totally ugly not model material.

She does not deserve the cover of vogue or the spread. She is more a dolly or girlfriend magazine model. I dont like demelza but i could see the reasoning of giving her a spread in a teen magazine like them.
YES, about the bully stuff she is not the first girl who does that ok? the problem was that alamela didn’t do anything. maybe she is not better than alex, but she is better than 95% of the antm girls.
Demelza shouldn’t get the cover, or a photospread, or be the winner, simply because, she’s not a model! She’s crap! her photos on the show (like 10/12 of them) were so crap! And every week the judges said, all she is is pretty, she can’t take photos or model … so why the hell did they let her win??
