The Great Celebrity Hackathaon of 2011 is going strong, with TMZ reporting that Academy Award winner (and mom-to-be) Natalie Portman and Glee star Dianna Agron also have naked photos that are now in the hands of a ring of hackers who have broken into over 100 female celebrities’ smart phones, computers, and other devices.
Last week, Vanessa Hudgens‘ nude photos (with friend Alexa Nikolas) were actually leaked; Scarlett Johansson, Miley Cyrus, and Jessica Alba are reportedly in the same camp as Portman and Agron, in that their photos are in the hands of hackers but haven’t been released.
It raises the question of why female celebs, especially TV and movie stars, would take such revealing photos in the first place. Many of them have been in steamy love scenes, so all they’d have to do is order a disc from Netflix to see themselves naked. But perhaps that’s the reasoning behind it — those photos and videos everyone gets to see, and maybe these women want private photos for themselves and their significant others. That said, “privacy” is a relative term when your life is in the public eye.
The FBI allegedly knows the identity of the ringleader, but hasn’t made any moves to arrest yet.
