This week on DietTribe, it was Lydia’s birthday and the girls had to navigate through the birthday party without killing their weight loss progress. They got a chance to show off their progress with their weight loss so far and seemed to have a terrific time…until Jesse, their trainer showed up. Lydia was caught drinking a Guinness, which I’m guessing is not a diet beverage. And some of the other girls did cheat a bit with the drinks at the party.
The next day, Jesse had the girls meet him at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, where two Olympic Games have been held. He told them that they would be walking up and down the stairs of the coliseum – over 3000 steps!! Shawna was hung over because she may have drunk a little too much the night before at the party. The tough part was that they were expected to complete it within 45 minutes.
Morgan & Anna were both resistant to the challenge, but Megan talked them into a better point of view. In spite of the fact that they had varying degrees of difficulty with the challenge, all but Shawna (who was sick) crossed the finish line by helping and encouraging each other.

Then the girls decided to go roller skating. They found out that they could do more active things together instead of just getting together to eat.
In Shawna’s one-on-one session with the therapist, we found out that she used to be a physical trainer. She is having a rough time with her motivation, and now it makes me wonder if it’s related to the fact that she used to do that for a living.
The girls went to the movies and sneaked in bags of 100-calorie popcorn so they wouldn’t be tempted to eat the 1200-calorie popcorn. What a great idea!
And then they decided to up the ante and they took a “strip for fit” class together. It went a long way towards helping them feel more attractive than they had felt in a long time. And it was great exercise at the same time.
The therapist, Stacy Kaiser took the girls to a theater and asked them to role play. She wanted to pretend to be each other so they could learn about themselves from their close friends. Some of them got their feelings a bit hurt and they all felt self-conscious when they were being portrayed. They all came to see that they do affect each other and how they can support each other in ways they never had before.
Then the girls went back to find bridesmaid dresses. They finally chose a beautiful style of red dresses for the wedding. They all looked amazing and were happy that they could wear things they hadn’t been able to wear just a few weeks before.
Then Anna went to order the flowers for the wedding and then went to try on her wedding dress. It fit her so much better than before and she felt beautiful.
When they went to weigh in again, they were all worried about their own progress. Here’s how they all did:
- Megan: weighed 203 – lost 5 – total lost so far: 15
- Anna: weighed 207 – lost 6 – total lost so far: 21
- Shawna: weighed 213 – lost 5 – total lost so far: 19
- Lydia: weighed 194 – lost 4 – total lost so far: 16
- Morgan: weighed 269 – lost 9 – total lost so far: 23
They are doing great and are learning a lot along the way. Watching the show makes me want to get motivated about my own weight and health!
