There’s a lot of talk lately about Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and politics floating around the Internet. Nothing is coming from credible sources and most of it seems to be just wishful thinking from some people but it made me start thinking about the possibilities.

First there are discussions of people hoping that Brad Pitt will run for mayor of New Orleans. I don’t know if it’s ever going to happen, but I could actually picture that. Many people think it would be a perfect match since Brad has done so much to help the locals who were left stranded after Hurricane Katrina. With his Make It Right project springing up new housing, so many people will have homes again. We also know that Brad loves New Orleans and so does Angelina; they’ve often referred to it as their real home base. The locals have often protected them from reporters looking for information, and although they’re still photographed there, it’s not usually as invasive as other places like New York.
Personally, I can see it, but I don’t think it’s something that he’s looking into. I’ve never heard him say anything that would suggest that he’d like to get into politics, but you never know. He wouldn’t be the first celebrity to do it, though. The only downside of Brad being mayor is that he wouldn’t be able to travel with Angelina when she films as easily. Then again, if she starts phasing out of movies, that may not be a huge deal.
The stories get even more ambitious with Angie though. The latest rumors out there are that Angelina Jolie would like to run for president of the United States. To me, this is even more laughable than the idea of Brad as mayor. She’s certainly very intelligent and cares a great deal about some serious political issues, but she even said in her recent interview with Ann Curry that she doesn’t consider herself to be a political person.
So, as far as we can tell, these stories are obviously not true, but for fun let’s have a discussion: Whether it’s mayor, president, or something in between, what do you think of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie getting into politics at some point in the future? Can you see it?
I think it would be interesting, but the selfish side of me would really miss seeing them in new movies, and I wonder how the media circus would get in the way. I’m not sure how possible it would be unless the constant paparazzi coverage dies down in the next several years.
Pitt Politics – What do you think?

Hi Angela, I love my Hello magazine, my relatives from Canada mailed it to me. I bought Harper’s Bazaar & I have extra copies because of my nieces in the Philippines, they love Brad & Angie there too.God bless the Jolie-Pitt Family.
Angie for president???
I’m in!
Besides, Brad would be lovely as the first gentleman… Wow!
i dont think they will inter politics they help people now even they are not politician.ihope there will be new photos of the twins in time for their 1st birthday.ADVANCE HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KNOX AND VIV
hi Irma, you are right, the Hello magazine was a good read. i’ve only got to read some parts of the article from a scan and i’ve read there that James is helping Brad cook at home and that Angie is planning to attend cooking class this summer. i thought that was really cute.
Sherry – no worries, I understood your intention… I just get a tad passionate sometimes is all. (Like in this case: personally not liking politics but loving the J-Ps).
E – Oh, well I call myself that because I’ve never been an active “fan” of any celebrity before so it was a bit of a surprise to me how much I was drawn to Brad & Angelina.
One fan wrote in other blog that Brad & James Haven are in DC today, does it mean the Jolie-Pitt Family maybe are in DC? God bless the Jolie-Pitt’s.
I really don’t see them as politicians, they are happy right now to what & how they help others why join politics. I really don’t see it happening.
Off topic, been a sad week for actors this week. I really feel for Farrah Fawcet’s family specially her dad, Ryan & their son, then this afternoon Michael Jackson both are icons in their own right, Ed M. also will be missed.
God bless.
I don’t see them getting into politics. May I say that they are too moral and into global issues to get into that rat race. Politics right now are sooo not moral or global, except for my hero, Obama, who has the right moves for what we need right now. It takes a special person to be able to manage the conflicting issues in the political world. Angie and Brad have enough trouble managing celebrity issues right now and it would be counterintuitive for them to get involved is this mess.
I had just said to my daughter when she got home from work that Farrah had died and there would be one more before the week was over and then to turn the TV on an hour later I was shocked. My thoughts and prayers to all families of Ed, Farrah and Michael.
As for Brad and Angie in politics. Maybe in the later years but not now. I could see Angie offered to be a ambassador of a poor country. I believe that their feelings for their children and future children is the only thing important to them right now.
angela – I was just coming to comment on the same thing. Between Ed McMahon the other day, Farrah Fawcett this morning, and now Michael Jackson, it’s a sad time in the world of entertainment.
I know there were so many issues surrounding Michael Jackson but I grew up on his music, wore “THE” jacket (the red one with zippers, mine wasn’t leather because I was just a kid!), had the glove, had every album… I feel like part of my childhood just died.
May they all rest in peace.
off topic: Micheal Jackson just passed away. I feel bad for the family he has left behind specially his children. May he rest in peace.
Angelina Jolie Armani Fragrance Ad Spokesmodel
Salt star Angelina Jolie has inked a multimillion dollar deal to front an ad campaign for a new Armani scent set to debut later this year.
“Armani rolled up the Brink’s truck for Angelina, because frankly, she’s worth it,” a fashion-industry industry reveals in the July 6 edition of Life & Style Weekly. “For this fragrance push, they needed a true A-lister, and Angelina is the biggest, most dynamic female star in the world.”
As part of the partnership, the 34-year-old Oscar-winning star will have “creative oversight” for the print and television campaign.
According to the insider, “She’s giving a lot of input on that stuff already, picking the photographers and directors. The campaign is going to be bold.”

I just don’t see it happening. In his interview a few years ago with SBMS teen press he said “absolutely not”, when asked if he had any personal political aspirations for New Orleans.

accidentalBRANfan: I’m just curious as to how you became a fan since it’s “accidental” :-)
Thanks, Angela. First, sabbatical; then, tech problems. :-(
IF by some fantastic (as in fantasy) confluence of events, Angelina Jolie was elected president of the United States, I expect she will have gotten to the White House with a team even better than Barack Obama’s – which is saying something.
I expect she’ll be as much like President Bartlett of the West Wing as possible – pragmatic and principled.
She will have made the decision to give up some freedom in decision-making and in acts taken – which goes against her independent nature – because she’s accountable to the American people & nation (this never stopped Bush & the Republicans). She’ll have made the decision that somehow the process of legislation with the inevitable compromises, backroom-dealing, lobbyists, bureaucrats – all so different from what we learned in civics class and grassroots democracy – is something she can stomach and that she’s confident she can push through her agenda.
(I don’t know how Angelina would make it through the nomination process, let alone become a party’s candidate, unless it’s a third party. And the actual race? It would be a circus – and all her opponents would probably gang up on her. She’s under constant, vicious attack as it is. I can only imagine how it would be if she even hinted she was interested in running for dogcatcher, let alone POTUS.)
hi Ligaya! how are you? i miss reading your posts.
czechjoyce, is that you on your avi? :)
i think this topic is very funny. both couple loves helping make the world a better place and i think Brad has a big chance of winning if ever he’ll run specially in NOLA but i don’t think it’s his thing, to be in politics. Angie for president? Umm… i would love that too but i don’t think it’s happening either, but as what Charlotte said, who knows? i mean, who ever thought Arnold Schwarzenegger would become a governor?
Here’s a few more photos from the UNHCR photo gallery of Angelina Jolie & the World Refugee Day event at the National Geographic Museum, Washington, D.C.

I think Brad as Mayor of New Orleans in 10 to 15 years (after they’ve quit movies and their globetrotting settles down some) is a wonderful idea. But I don’t think the timing is right until then. Heck I may even want to move there if that ever happens:):):)
