Discussion Thread: What Else Do You Watch?

20090126_zaf_i90_113.jpg

Although you guys mostly talk about Medium (obviously), I’m sure that’s not the only show you watch. Some of you have talked about loving Ghost Whisperer, others have never seen it. Some of you watch American Idol, others hate it. So I’m curious? What else do you watch? I want to know what some of your other favorite shows are.

For me, I’m in love with Mad Men. It is hands-down one of my favorite shows on television right now. I’ve also gotten into Dexter, and I love all of the Law & Orders. As far as comedies go, I’m a huge fan of 30 Rock, The Office, and the recently-canceled Samantha Who?.

So what else do you watch on TV now?

I am 43 and the main show I watch is Medium. The other shows I enjoy are the Law and Order shows but if I miss them it doesn’t bother me a bit. I also like American Idol. I watch Dateline NBC although I am going to try to not watch too much on NBC anymore since if CBS didn’t pick up Medium we would not have a season six. So I don’t plan on watching any of NBC’s new shows.
I used to watch a lot on TLC like Jon and Kate plus eight. I don’t watch it anymore since all the negative publicity it has been getting. I can’t relate to that family anymore.
I like Little People Big World on TLC. I watch Mystery Diagnosis on TLC, and the show on TLC with the female medical examiner from Florida. I forgot the name because I don’t watch every week only when I am channel surfing and find it on.

I like the crime dramas like Medium and CSI-NY. There are a lot of them. I like these two the best because of the personal storylines they have going on. Thats what keeps me coming back.

I like comedies also. Who doesn’t like to laugh? I watch Two and A Half Men.
I watch repeats at night of Everybody Loves Raymond and still laugh even though I’ve seen them a few times. The new show Cougar Town looks good.I will probably watch that

The three shows I must watch are Friday Night Lights, Medium and Gavin and Stacey. My first and main tv love was ER, I’ve seen all 331 episodes, and own up to season 13 on dvd. Slightly obsessed.

I watch Bones, Life, Law and Order, Without A Trace and Damages through my rental service, miles behind with those. And I like my music-related reality television, but not other reality programmes.

I’m addicted to almost all american tv-shows like Ugly Betty, Despertae Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Medium, Brothers and Sisters, Private Practice, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl.I think that was all… haha, but it’s a great way too learn english with no swedish subtitles.

  5. Betty

Of course, I LOVE Medium, I also am totally in love with Dancing With the Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, Burn Notice, The Closer, NCIS, Castle, The Mentalist, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, and shows like House Hunter, Designed to Sell.

I used to be in love in the Law & Order Shows but I think they’ve all jumped the shark and gotten stale, so I don’t watch anymore. I used to love the original CSI, but haven’t be able to watch since William Petersen left as he was the heart and soul of that show. I never used to miss Monk, but when they fired Bitty Schram, I watch it if I can but don’t stress over it if I miss it. Again, she just added a certain something to the show that has been missing since she left. I watched American Idol the first season or two, but I really hate the way they focus the early auditions on the people with no discernable talent whatsoever. They waste too much time on stuff I don’t care about on that show – I want to see them singing – I don’t give a tinker’s damn what they do when they are not on stage.

I really do respect and admire people who have real talent. I have no use for most of the other reality shows, especially ones that exist to humiliate others.

  6. Gina

Besides Medium I watch: The New Adventures of Old Christine, Cold Case, The Law and Order Shows. Sometimes the CSI shows but not the original since William Petersen left.

I used to watch Without A Trace and ER both great shows too.

Ummm ok… Medium comes first and fore most, but I do enjoy the following:
    How I met your Mother
    Two and a half Men
    Cold Case
    Law&Order SVU
    New adventures of old Christine
    Criminal Minds

As far as shows like American Idol and So you think you can dance…. I dont waste my time. These people go on there to pursue their dreams. The shows are suppose to be a competition. RIGHT. Most of the time, the winner is out shadowed by someone else, whichis ok, but dosent that take away the element of the show. Maybe Im on my own with that opinion. I dont know.

  8. Dawn

Well, if I had to rank my top five shows, it would look like this:

    1. MEDIUM
    2. MEDIUM
    3. MEDIUM (Can you tell I love Medium?:))
    4. The Closer
    5. Hung

Those are the only ones right now that have a season pass on my DVR. There are others that I watch on a regular to semi-regular basis, like NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, and I also love to watch old sitcoms late at night on Nickelodeon and TVLand. There are a VERY select few shows that I watch on cable, like Ice Road Truckers and Deadliest Catch, but that’s only if I happen to flip past it or remember that it’s on. I also enjoy Extreme Makeover:Home Edition.
I refuse to watch most reality shows, like all those Top Chef-Prettiest Model-American Idol contest shows.I agree with Karen too about NBC. Since they cancelled Medium, there is nothing left on the network that I have any interest in watching. Everything is tired and overdone or it’s silly. I can’t stand The Office, 30 Rock or Parks & Recreation, and Southland is just a tired ripoff of The Shield or some of those shows on cable. It’s just been watered down for the broadcast network.

There are a couple of new shows that I’m really looking forward to this fall. One is NCIS:Los Angeles and the other is Cougar Town. Both of those look pretty good. I liked Jenna Elfman in Dharma & Greg, but her new show just doesn’t look that promising to me.

On another note, I saw the first print ad for Medium the other day. It was a combo ad for Ghost Whisperer, Medium and Numbers all in one. CBS is calling it “The Friday Night Dream Team”. I read an interview recently with Rob Morrow (Numbers) and he commented how CBS hasn’t had a trio of shows that were this compatible on Fridays in years, and they’ve always advertised the shows separately. But now with the addition of Medium, it’s such a perfect night that they’re advertising the entire night as a single block of programming. That’s great for all three shows. CBS is sure to rule Friday nights again this year. I’m betting Medium’s ratings are going to improve greatly too. If they don’t, it’ll surprise me.

  9. aaron

I dont want to disagree with Dawn, or disappoint anyone, but like I have said b4, CBS at 9 on fri night is a death trap. 4 shows in 5 yrs. Doset look good for us faithful and loyal Medium fans. On the flip side, CBS has done a great job promoting our show. Alot better than NBC ever did(did they ever promote it). We might be fine. Keep your fingers crossed. I know I will!!!

  10. Gina

Lets hope Medium doesn’t fall into that death trap. I don’t know which shows were on at that time in previous years. Were they decent shows ? Or is it just a bad time for tv? I normally don’t watch tv on Fridays. Sometimes we go out for dinner on Friday other times friends drop by. It just hasn’t been a tv night for me. Of course it will be now since Medium is on.

  11. Kieran

I watch so much tv its sad ha ha. Infact the majority of my September has ‘… Returns for Season …’. I watch all kinds, Heroes, Monk, Desperate Housewives, Medium obviously, Gossip Girl – every now and then, just finished watching Queer as Folk, Warehouse 13, Samantha Who – sad to find out it was cancelled. The Big Bang Theory. Too much TV really.

  12. aaron

    This yr: Medium- AWESOME SHOW
2 yrs: Close to Home- Decent show
1 ys: Moonlight- I never watched
1 yr: The Ex List- Never watched

This list is for Gina, who didnt know what shows fell into the death trap. I dont know about Moonlight, but what I hear from everyone, is it was a great show. I dont know about The ex list. The two seasons of Close to Home, I watched both years. It was ok but it wasnt close to the top of my list. I missed a few episodes and I guess thats why it got cancelled. Were all pulling for Medium I think. I hope so!!!

  13. Gina

Thanks aaron, hopefully Medium has a great following of fans that will pull it out of the death trap. Maybe we can pick up some Ghost Whisperer and Numbers fans too.

Good thing Medium is on Lifetime tonight because there is absolutely nothing on any of the network channels for me to watch.

  14. monica

My favorite shows are Medium (the greatest), Grey’s Anatomy, Mad men and Fringe. I also watch Dexter and True Blood, but I think the most recent seasons are not as good as the others.

  15. MaryLouiseParker

Weeds is a awesome TV series starring a hot surbarban mom turned widow who turns to selling pot to support her family.

Watch all episodes of weeds online!
