Well, I don’t know about you but I love Dolly Parton. She’s as sweet as pie (or so it seems) and my grandmother just loved her and the duets she shared with Kenny Rogers. Sure, the plastic surgery is a bit much but have you seen this woman’s body lately? It should be illegal for a woman her age to be in such amazing shape. She should be an interesting guest!
Dolly is set to appear in an episode of American Idol next season as the evening’s musician of choice.
“I won’t be a judge. I couldn’t do that,” she said. “I can’t tell people they aren’t doing a good job even if they ask me. To tell someone if they’re good or bad, or if they suck isn’t me.”
Well, I guess we’ve found Paula Abdul’s mentor (just kidding)!

This is so great that American Idol is recognizing Dolly’s songwriting. I’m from her hometown of Sevierville, TN, and our Chamber of Commerce has been hosting The Mountain Soul Vocal competition for four years now. It also honors Dolly’s songwriting as contestants must pick one of the 3,000 songs she has written and sing it in their own style (rock, rap, country, etc.). It’s been pretty successful and we draw competitors from all over the country. The finals this year are May 17, but we’re still accepting applications until April 11. The prizes are great and first place is $500, a guitar autographed by Dolly, and a recording session in Nashville. You can get more info at http://www.BloominBBQ.com
