I agree with the previous comment 100%. The movies are great, but the faithfulness to books drives me crazy! Take “The Order of the Phoenix” for example. If it wasn’t for Luna and the Thestrals (not to mention Grawp) two thirds of the book would have been missing.

And how could they just skim by chapter 37 “The Lost Prophecy” with just a 1:15 minute sedate scene of Harry and Dumbledore sitting across from one another? This chapter was the most important chapter of the first five books. Harry’s “explosion” in the office and Dumbledore’s eloquent summation of events and explanation of “The Plan” would have been a perfect lead up to the final three movies (as it was for the final two books).

It reminds me of the Jason Bourne trilogy. After “The Identity” (which I would consider only “loosely based” on Robert Ludlum’s book), “The Supremacy” and “The Ultimatum” had very little to do with the plot/time line and characters in the books.

I loved the movie as far as being a good story... However, as far as following the book, it was a miserable failure as the other six movies have been.
The movie was focused way too much in my opinion on humor, and being cute and cleaver. Yes it was a good movie, but they missed the mark on key elements of the book. The will of Sirius Black, and the fact he now had a house elf which will come in play later. The history of Voldemort was not even shown. Yes they showed him at the Orphanage, and and Hogwarts, but they did not show the important facts that Tom Riddle collected important items which belonged to great wizards.
It is my hope, the last movie will be a bit more true to the book, and not the screen writers idea of what he thinks the story of Harry Potter should go. It is not your story, write it the way JKR Wrote it! Blimey!
