DVD Review - Lisa Rinna: Dance Body Beautiful: Jive, Jump, Ballroom Bump

The first of the Lisa Rinna Dance Body Beautiful series that I reviewed was the one that featured these dance sections:

  • Warm up
  • Jive, Jump, Ballroom Bump
  • Cha Cha Crazy
  • Super Sexy Salsa Sizzle
  • Fat-Free Disco Fever
  • Cool Down

All the routines were choreographed by Louis van Amstel, Lisa’s professional dance partner during her season on Dancing With the Stars. Louis doesn’t appear in the DVD. Instead, Lisa demonstrates and leads all the dance segments.

I did notice that Dmitry Chaplin, SYTYCD veteran and Dancing With the Stars pro dancer, was one of her backup dancers. He has certainly become successful. He’s even won an Emmy for his choreography!

The unique thing about this DVD is that it’s broken down very differently than the others I’ve reviewed so far. We can either choose to go through all of the routines, in order, or we can do individual portions. The dances are organized in sections like these:

  • Break Down
  • Slow
  • Medium
  • Fast

If we want to go over the instructions for the routine, we can play that over and over until we feel comfortable. Then, if we want to start by only doing the slow version, we can do that. And once we are adept at the routines, we can skip straight to the fast ones if we want. It’s a unique way to organize it, but I like it.

The one drawback of the DVD is that there is only one short routine for each dance style and the only variation is the speed with which it is danced. But they are all fun dances, so it would take a while to get tired of them.

One of the advantages of this DVD over the others I’ve reviewed so far is that there are no advanced moves. Anyone, of any age could do these dance steps and enjoy them. And while having fun, anyone can get a good cardio workout from the DVD.

I like this one and do recommend it for ANYONE who wants to learn simple, yet very fun dance moves to get cardio benefit.
