Elliott Yamin Sings Anthem at Racing Event

Elliott Sings Anthem at Richmond International Raceway

untitledElliott had the following to say about singing at a racing event – “If I was driving a NASCAR car, I’d probably lose my license in the first week. I’ve always had kind of a heavy foot. I’ve gotten plenty of speeding tickets in my day and reckless driving, too, but I learned long ago that it wasn’t cool.”

In discussing what he’s been up to lately, Elliott said “I just got off a month-long radio tour and, because I’m a big baseball and basketball fan, I was able to work in a lot of sports things. I did an anthem at Safeco Field [in Seattle] and another in Baltimore at Camden Yards last week. I did a Cincinnati Reds game where I did ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ during the seventh-inning stretch instead of the anthem. That was kind of cool, too. I always want to be able to do those kids of things. It’s a perk of my job, and I want to take advantage of it as much as possible.”

“The largest crowd I’ve ever been in front of was probably about 23,000 or 24,000 at last year’s NBA Finals [Game 2 in Dallas],” Yamin said. “More people? Hey, let’s do it. I love being able to perform. Big crowds don’t bother me the way they used to.”

His mother, Claudette, has recently had hip injury and Elliott said “My mom’s doing real well, and they expect she’ll go home [today].” Yamin said.
