Emmy Ratings Drop - Seacrest Blamed?

ryan seacrest emmy 2

I don’t know if I think it’s fair but people are saying that Ryan Seacrest may be the reason why less people tuned in to watch the Emmy Awards. Prelimary Nielsen scores show that 13.1 million watched Sunday night’s awards show, making it the second worst in history. Last year the awards were seen by 16.2 million viewers. (source)

Of course, Simon Cowell had something to say about it:

“There were a few uncomfortable moments,” he told Extra. “We were expecting a two, so I’m going to give him a two-and-a-half. So he did better than expected.”

Asked if the rest of the Idol crew had spoken to Seacrest after Sunday’s big show, Cowell said, “No, he’s gone into hiding.”

Fellow American Idol judge Randy Jackson added, “Deep hiding.”

Ouch! I actually thought Ryan did a good job. Did anyone watch it?

I watched it…..and I have never watched it before! I think the fact that Ryan was the host was also a reason that people were watching. I think he did a good job. The awards themselves seemed pretty boring though, I just skipped through it because I watched it later on DVR instead of live. Now that I think of it does it not count if something is being recorded on DVR? If that is the truth…well a lot of people have DVR now, so that could be a reason. I record things that I like even if I’m watching it live…. I don’t know maybe I’m clueless, I just heard that somewhere.

I know! I liked him. I thought he did a good job and his jokes were risque and funny. Oh well…

I always avoid award shows – too long and boring…and I can find out who won online the next day. I actually watched the Emmy’s this year just to see Ryan. He was great, but most of the rest of the show I didn’t care about. Anybody realize there was a great football game opposite the emmy’s? Except for Ryan THAT was the show to watch!
