Etta James: “I Can’t Stand Beyoncé”

Dang. According to OK! Magazine, legendary singer, Etta James had some pretty harsh words to say about Beyoncé. As most of you know, Etta is famous for her song “At Last”, the song which Beyoncé was asked to perform at President Barack Obama’s Inauguration. The song has also been sung  many times by Beyoncé due to the fact that she plays Etta James in the movie “Cadillac Records.”khphotos129971-Etta-James

Etta had some fighting words to say not only about Beyoncé but she had some interesting things to say about our new President as well. At one of her concerts this week in Seattle she says, "You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears? Wait a minute, he ain’t my president, he might be yours, he ain’t my president. You know that woman he had singing for him, singing my song–she’s going to get her ass whipped."

She goes on to say, "The great Beyonce. I can’t stand Beyonce. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day, singing my song that I’ve been singing forever."

Ouch. That hurts. I know Beyoncé didn’t mean for this to be so dramatic. Etta might not have handled the situation very well, but I do understand. I mean, I’m sure it doesn’t feel nice to feel like you should be up there singing for the President, but instead some young girl is performing your song in your place. She must feel like she’s been pushed over and set aside a bit.

You can actually listen to audio of what Etta said, by clicking here!!!

I don’t think Etta was serious when she said that! I honestly beleive she was just kidding & having some fun time with the audiance she’s known for beeing stuck up & very proud so she was just playing around with her fans kind of giving theme the reaction that old school Etta would have! I mean can she really change her mind that fast? when Bee sang to her she looked very happy about it & when cadillac came out she said some nice things about her! & right after the inaugural ball her son told the press that Etta was very pleased & honored with Bee’s performance & that she was very emotional while watching it at home but not a lot of websites wrote about that! & NOW we have an audio ( why an audio? who makes an audio at a concert? weird!) where Etta says some stuff & it’s all over the news, I think Etta was just kidding!! & there is some people like always who try to distroy Bee’s image!

I LIKE ETTA JAMES AND BEYONCE BUT MS JAMES YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MIND AND MY RESPECT FOR THE DEGRADING THINGS YOU HAVE SAID AND YOU SHOULD BE ASHAME OF YOURSELF EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE NOT. YOU SHOULD BE HONORED THAT BEYONCE CHOSE YOUR SONG AND DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB MAYBE YOU’RE JEALOUS AND YOU DISRESPECTED THE PRESIDENT. YOU ARE DISGUSTING NOW AND NASTY. TO MANY OF US OLDER ONES HAVE SAT TERRIBLE EXAMPLES FOR THE YOUNG ONES. YOU NEED TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

Etta James you had your day back in the day so remember your good days and be glad for them. Your words were outright ficious and uncalled for towards Beyonce. That is your signature song but you do not own this song sister! Beyonce has been gracious and respectful to you at all times. She made a movie -let her make her movie and leave her alone. Get a life!

I understand 100% where Ms. James come from. It was her song she should have been asked to sing the song, but seeing how its not Beyonce’s fault she shoudnt of took it out on her. If u wud ask ray charles to perform his song instead of jamie foxx do to the fact that the movie was about him.
