American Idol winner, Fantasia Barrino, has been performing in "The Color Purple" on Broadway but, apparently, there is no guarantee that audiences will see her. According to Fox News (and you gotta take that with a grain of salt), Fantasia has missed almost 50 shows since the summer. The article also states that the "New York Post" is reporting that "the two-shows a day, 6-days a week schedule is taking its toll on Barrino."
Broadway has a refund policy if a star isn’t performing. That has cost producers of her show tens of thousands of dollars.
Has anyone had this happen or have any of you heard about this happening? Tell me it isn’t so!!!
I feel like they shouldn’t always critize her…..they quick to tell whats going on, instead of actually sayin what happen. Fantasia had to get surgey on her throat, becuase she got a tumor from the shows, to know more, read the new magazine, S2S Mag, she’s on the cover, she didnn’t want to have her fans wrry, so thats wut happen.
50 seems like a lot to miss, but it’s not considering she does 8 a week and has been sick several times.
Oh boy Fantasia, you better recognize your not that big of a star yet to be messing up this badly. Don’t you forget your a single Mom with no education. Where in the world do you think, you can work a regular job, and have the earnings, being the lead in a Broadway show will bring. Girl you better wake up and fast. Clearly your hanging with the wrong crowd, if none of them have said this to you. Sometimes trying to maintain relationships on the same level they were before success strikes is not possible. Let the bad people/influineces go. I pray you weren’t so enraptured as to be fooled a second time, and the rumors of being pregnant without a husband are just that, a rumor.
Please Fantasia pull yourself out of the self defeating funk, or kiss your short lived success good-bye.
Was a no show at 12/26/07 performance. Got to the theater at 7:30PM only to be told that she cancelled an hour ago. Refunds were being offered. Some people did cancelled.

Actually she has been missing a lot of shows, I post on some Broadway boards and MANY have been keeping track, in a couple of threads they say she has missed a lot of shows. in fact they are quite upset about it, and It was there that I read showgoers getting refunds for thier Fantasia-less shows the ticket booth person said he was constantly giving refunds to the nights she was absent. I don’t know if 50 is the actual amount but there’s been a lot of talk for a long time now.

I seriously doubt this! She has had great reviews and seems to really take her work seriously.
There is no way someone could miss 50 shows of a Broadway hit like that and still remain part of the cast.
I would take this with a grain of salt.
Oh, please tell me it isn’t so. For her to mess up at this point would be the worst
