Fantasia Barrino really, REALLY wanted the part of Effie in the new Dreamgirls movie. REALLYYYYY wanted it. So much, that she called Jennifer Hudson up and called her a name:
American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino was devastated when fellow talent show contestant Jennifer Hudson beat her to the part of Effie White in the forthcoming Dreamgirls movie.
Barrino, who beat Hudson in the 2004 season of the televised music contest, auditioned for the role of the troubled sixties singer, but lost out to Hudson.
She says, "I was a little hurt. I remember calling Jennifer. She picked up the phone and I said, ‘Heifer, you took my part.’"
Now, I know sometimes we girls like to kid around with each other, but this doesn’t sound like kidding around. What do you think?
And who do you think is the better singer? I say Jennifer Hudson by far; Fantasia’s got an irritating voice. Here’s two clips.

Overrated? lololol. The music legends don’t think she’s overrated though. The respect in the music industry shes gained says enough about her talent. The only people who think she’s overrated are her haters. Tune in to Oprah later on today to see just how “overrated” she is. LOLOLOL.

I think Fantasia is the most over-rated american idols. Her voice is plainly annoying and irritating.

UGH here we go again. Fantasia’s heffier comment was said playfully. I’m just about sick and tired of you assholes trying to make a big deal over a playful situation. If you were trying out for a part in a movie or what have you and had high hopes for the part and end up not getting it, you’d be disappointed as well. ITS A NATURAL HUMAN REACTION. Fantasia and Jen are friends. They were estatic to see each other at the BET awards this year and Fantasia called Jen her AI SISTER. Stop with the useless drama where its not needed. Both ladies are very talented and well deserving in their careers. lets just be happy that two young black sisters are doing something they dreamed of doing and are living out their dream. Fantasia and Jen performed at the tribute to Aretha Franklin that will be aired in late January. So if you want a live comparison of who’s the better singer, look out for that show and then make judgements and stop using old ass footage.

It is the gay community that celebrated my voice and my size and my personality long before DREAMGIRLS. Yes, I was raised Baptist. Yes, I was taught that the Bible has certain views on homosexuality. The Bible also teaches us not to judge. It teaches on homosexuality. The Bible also teaches us not to judge. It teaches us to love one another as God loves us all. I love my sister, my two best friends and my director dearly. They happen to be gay. So what? While some search for controversy, I hope that my friends and fans who know me, know where I stand.”

Why not find one of Jennifer’s american idol performances and we can judge by that and not by recording done by professional and any way america vote and fantasia is the better singer. Iam I right or wrong you be the judge of that.
Hey Melody – to each his own is right. I just prefer Jennifer’s voice; not saying that Fantasia isn’t talented in her own right, that’s for sure.
If you do come across a good video of Fantasia that is an actual video, not American Idol, please let me know; for some reason, I had a really hard time finding one. Thanks!
Okay wendy at least you can admit you can’t find a live copy of Jennifer singing that’s good enough to go up against fantasia. If you can’t and you had to use a digitally remastered recorded movie version to pit up against fantasia then that should tell you that Fantasia is actually better then you might think. Irritating to you or not, she’s a great emotional singer.
Anyway to each his or her own but it would be nice if things could be fair.
Wow the media the media is really trying to cover up Jennifer’s boo boo commenting on gays by turning a light hearted comment into a cat fight. I heard Fantasia when she said this waaaaay back when Jennifer first got the part and the comment was in jest. Jennifer put her foot in her mouth and the media is trying to bring this up to overshadow it. But hey that’s what they do. They don’t want to hurt jennifer’s chances of that Oscar. My opinion is if the girl is that brilliant in the movie, there is no need for the damage control. She’ll win it on merit.
I think they are both great singers. Who is the best is all about preference. I like Fantasia’s excitement on stage, but like Jennifer’s pure voice.
Well, I tried to find a good live vid of Jennifer Hudson and couldn’t do it. If you can find one, let me know and I’ll post it. :>)
Oh and I must say you are being really fair to compare a LIVE performance of fantasia’s with a digital movie 75 million dollard RECORDED copy of Jennifer singing. If you really think Jennifer is the better singer why not show a fair comparison like them both singing LIVE? Hmmm. Biased Much?
Fantasia is the better singer by far and would never judge gay people or openly call them sinners. Fantasia is also the sweeter person and by the comments Hudson made about gays if Fantasia did in fact call her a heifer (which I doubt) it seems to be true.
