It Takes Two was Mary-Kate and Ashley’s first film to be released in theaters!
Recap:
In a plot that is very Parent Trap- inspired, Amanda Lemmon (played by Mary-Kate Olsen) is a tough orphan. After spending several years in the orphanage, she has grown very close to the manager, Diane. However, she is about to be adopted by an evil family, who adopts children and uses them as laborers at their family business. Alyssa Callaway (played by Ashley Olsen) is a rich girl whose father, Roger, is about to marry a woman who is out for his money. An unexpected twist of events results in the girls meeting — Alyssa at her summer home and Amanda at summer camp — and the two hatch plots to get rid of Alyssa’s evil soon-to-be-step-mother, keep Amanda from getting adopted and to get Diane and Roger together.
My Take:
If you’ve seen either Parent Trap you know exactly what is coming. However, this does not mean it is not an enjoyable film. Kirstie Alley and Steve Guttenburg (Diane and Roger) seem to be having a great time, and there is a lot of laughs and decent sight-gags along the way! It’s better than Lindsay Lohan’s version of the Parent Trap. Okay, that was mean. Nevertheless, it’s a keeper. Also, of note, this is the first (and only) movie Mary-Kate and Ashley have made where they don’t play twins.

This is my favorate movie, with them two in, I love how they act and how the father, and support worker doesn’t know that there is anything going on until the very end of the movie, there is just one problem, I would have loved a follow on maybe when they were older and the evil one wants revenge on them or something like that.
When i walk into a film shop i try and find this in either video or dvd, they never sell it. Why? its amazing..i wanna see it in the shops!!!
