If you’ve never heard “No Me Ames”, you’re in for a treat. It’s a beautiful song that was on Jennifer Lopez’s first album, On the 6.
Jennifer would probably be the first one to tell you that her voice is good, but it doesn’t match the power that Marc Anthony has. But on this song, their voices blend perfectly. Hers is soft and sweet, especially in the beginning of the song where emotions are tender. As the song progresses, their voices get stronger and match the anger and sadness that accompany the lyrics of the song.
It’s funny to think that when this video was made, Jen and Marc were NOT married yet. Not even close. They weren’t even dating. She was recording her first album and Marc came over to see if she wanted to be in his video, “No Me Conoces.” She agreed, and the result was a very hot and romantic video with two:
Anyway, before she agreed to do his video, Jen asked Marc to do the “No Me Ames” duet with her. The song wasn’t as commercially successful as other tracks from On the 6, but it made it’s mark and gave Jen quite a bit of credibility as a new artist. It won several Billboard Latin Music Awards for 2000, including “Tropical/Salsa Track of the Year”, “Hot Latin Track of the Year”, and “Hot Latin Track of the Year by a Vocal Duo.”
It’s an incredibly sad yet beautiful number. Take a listen:

I downloaded this video when it first was one years back, beautiful
You do know they’re not the original singers though, right?
It is beautiful. They both do such a great job acting and singing.
I’d heard that this is a remake of an Italian song.
