Last week, CBS switched up two of its new shows, Canadian import police drama Flashpoint was moved to Thursday nights, and Swingtown (about the culturally transformative decade of the 1970s) was moved to Friday nights. Both shows air at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
That move has proved well for Flashpoint, as it placed first in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 and adults 18-34, according to Nielsen ratings.
During both of its Friday broadcasts, Flashpoint won its time period in all key measures, averaging 7.62 million viewers, and building on its NUMB3RS lead-in.
Prior to the move to Friday nights, Swingtown has averaged 6.52 million viewers. On its first Friday debut on July 25, Swingtown received a mediocre 4.5 million viewers.
With ratings doing well on Friday, why would CBS choose to move Flashpoint to Thursday?
The move seems more related to Swingtown. During the recent Television Critics Association press tour, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler made remarks that she was proud of Swingtown but disappointed with its ratings.
If you’ve watched Swingtown, what are your thoughts? How about Flashpoint?
