Are you looking to be the next big junior celeb? Check out this latest casting call!
Fox is casting for a new scripted comedy pilot, and the network is turning to the Web to find 18- to 22-year-olds who can pass for teens about 16 or 17 years old. The two-week search started Oct. 5 and ends Oct. 19, so hurry up!
The as-yet-untitled project comes from the executive producers of “That ’70s Show”–writer/producer Mark Brazill, producers Tom Werner and Mike Clements. It centers on a group of teens and is based on Brazill’s working-class upbringing in Buffalo, NY. Several roles will be cast, including the four below.
Here’s how you audition:
Fill out the form at tvpilotopencall.com. Be sure to state your name, age, height and the name of the character for which you are auditioning. Read the audition scene provided and upload. According to Fox, the site offers helpful hints to get the best take and provides background information on the roles.
Here are Fox’s descriptions of the four series regular roles that will be cast:
BILLY SHEA: A handsome 16-year-old kid, he is still trying to adjust to his parents’ recent bankruptcy. The opposite of his free-spending and irresponsible dad, Billy is a responsible, hard-working straight-A student who is holding down several jobs, while nursing a big crush on his former pal Cindy, who has suddenly transformed into the hottest girl in town. When Billy learns that his cousin and best friend, Paul, has had a secret fling with Cindy, he’s having fits trying to bridge the gap between sex and friendship–and he fears that the twain shall never meet.
CINDY: Billy’s long-time good-girl pal, this teen is a former skater chick in blowzy sweatshirts who has recently transformed into a traffic-stopping beauty, hands-down the hottest girl in town. The product of a broken home and a promiscuous mother, Cindy has always felt a romantic attraction to Billy, but she’s a bit put off by the fact that he’s dropped out of her life lately. In Billy’s absence, Cindy has hooked up for a drunken tryst with Paul, Billy’s cousin and best friend. And when Billy finds out about her “betrayal,” she feels betrayed in turn–not to mention a bit perplexed about how sex can complicate everything, and alienate even the closest friends. (Please submit any and all ethnicities for this character.)
PAUL DYKSTRA: Billy’s cousin and best friend, Paul is a handsome 18-year-old with a lineman’s build who works with Billy at a rundown local diner. Also quite attractive to the ladies, Paul has been close friends with Cindy since they were just kids. But recently, Paul hooked up with the newly gorgeous Cindy for a drunken fling. Well meaning and anxious to spare Billy’s feelings, Paul didn’t realize what a big crush Billy had on Cindy, and he’s anxious to keep his tryst a secret. But, inevitably, the truth comes out, and his relationships with both Billy and Cindy get a lot more complicated as a result.
LAURA: A well-to-do, attractive local teen, she’s also the product of a broken home. When her parents got divorced, she got a horse. An engaging, high-energy blabbermouth, Laura has recently befriended Cindy, even though the two girls actively disliked one another before. Precociously curious about all things sexual, she quizzes Cindy about her sex life, and winds up spilling the beans about Cindy’s liaison with Paul to Billy. Laura doesn’t mean to cause such a storm of controversy–but the fact that she has a huge crush on Billy herself makes her untimely disclosure just a tad suspicious.
