Freaky Friday 11/03/2006

Truth be told, I have always hated link posts. They feel lazy to me, like the writer can’t be bothered to write a real post so he just threw some links together. I skip right over them unless…UNLESS…I can scan the post and quickly identify links I may want to follow.

To that end, I have capitalized the nut of each Freak Friday link and put it in bold so you can do something like this: haunted-no … demonology-no … crystals-yawn … aura, evp, ghost hunting … blah blah blah…the evils of Scientology-kewl! So here you go. It looks tacky and sensationalized with all the caps and bolding, but it makes for easy scanning.

Re the Evils of Scientology… or ANY religion/cult/control-freak organization… an EXCELLENT evaluation tool is the Advanced Bonewits’ Cult Danger Evaluation Frame. To quote from the introduction: “The purpose of this evaluation tool is to help both amateur and professional observers, including current or would-be members, of various organizations (including religious, occult, psychological or political groups) to determine just how dangerous a given group is liable to be, in comparison with other groups, to the physical and mental health of its members and of other people subject to its influence.”

From Karen (who is experiencing technical difficulties): The ABCDEF is at http://www.neopagan.net/ABCDEF.html. Bonewits, by the way, is the author’s last name, not a slur on the readers’ intelligence aka “The Dummies’ Guide To…”
