The schedule for some of the FREE summer concerts are starting to roll in, and so far so good. Here’s what I know so far (please note that there are ticketed shows at some of these venues this summer. Those listed here are all free):

South Street Seaport:

• June 27 – New York City Opera
• July 03 – Here We Go Magic and Bachelorette
• July 10 – The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and TBA

• May 31 – Bang on  Can Marathon (12 hours of non-stop music) with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Tortoise, Bill Frisell, Bang on a Can All-Stars and more
• July 7 – Scanner and Mountains
• July 14 – Anthony Gonzalez from M83 and Janet Biggs
• July 21 – Karsh Kale and Timeline, Gamelatron and Forward Motion Theater
• July 28 – King Britt Sun Ra-lectric: Saturn Never Sleeps

Central Park Summerstage:

• Jun 12 – New York Pops

• Jul 05 – Oumou Sangare (from Mali)

Prospect Park Bandshell (Celebrate Brooklyn):

• June 8 – Kickoff celebration with David Byrne
• June 27 – Dr. Dog, Phosphorescent and TBA

Castle Clinton:

• July 16 – Tribute to Woodstock “It’s A Family Affair” Steven Bernstein’s Millenial Territory Orchestra Plays the Music of Sly & The Family Stone with special guests that include legendary Funkadelic keyboardist Bernie Worrell, and an array of vocalists including Sandra Saint Victor, Shilpa Ray and others

New York Philharmonic Free Shows:

• Tuesday, July 14th at 8 p.m.
  The Great Lawn, Central Park
  (with fireworks)
• Wednesday, July 15th at 8 p.m.
  Prospect Park, Brooklyn
  (with fireworks)
• Thursday, July 16th at 8 p.m.
  Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx
  (with fireworks)
• Friday, July 17th at 8 p.m.
  The Great Lawn, Central Park
