Poor guy. Who wouldn’t feel insecure at Port Charles? Especially when you’re the “Geek” kid and Sonny calls you “Freak Boy” all the time? Then everytime he’s in trouble, he’s either being rescued by Jason or by the Maxienista.
Then of course, Maxie has to tell whomever is holding Spinelli by his shoulder that the reason he was in the “restricted” dock is because he was having wild, passionate sex with Maxie. Of course the people around them doesn’t believe it so Maxie has to go even further to prove that Spinelli is an animal in bed. While he gets the benefit of being kissed by Maxie, it’s a little embarrassing for him that Maxie has to lie and let alone rescue him all the time.
And then once Jason finds out, Maxie asks him to please keep an eye out on him. He’s such a sweet guy and he doesn’t deserve being pushed around by Jason’s enemies. Unfortunately, that concern makes Spinelli feel even more insecure. Poor guy.

I despise this whole perspective. I know the writers are tossing around that they are “young adults” but it’s a sad, dysfunctional attitude towards sexuality.
I’ll admit to being smitten by brawn but I also value intelligence. Which is why I hope they hurry with the Spinelli transformation.
