Cycle 13 of America’s Next Top Model premieres on Wednesday, September 9th. The thirteen lucky ladies who make it into the top model house will need to look their very best for the camera. Tyra loves a model who takes care of herself – it shows she’s serious about the competition and about modeling.
1) Keep your skin hydrated.
One of the easiest things a model can do is stay hydrated. It’s good for your body and good for your skin. Hydration will help prevent breakouts, redness and rough patches. The models should always have water on hand at their photo shoots, especially for those tough assignments on location. A good recommendation is to drink 1 liter of water for every 20 pounds you weigh. So, if you’re 5’9” and weigh 115 pounds, you should drink about 6 liters of water.
2) Always remove make-up after a photo shoot.
You see how much make-up the girls have piled on their faces after a photo shoot. While it makes for a pretty picture, it’s not good for the pores. After every photo shoot, they should wash their face with gentle soap and warm water or with a gentle make-up remover. Hopefully the make-up artists are using brands that are “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic”, as they’re the most gentle on you’re skin.
3) Wear sunscreen.
Nothing is worse than a model who looks orange on camera. Having gorgeous pale skin can make any model stand out in the crowd. Wear sunscreen with at least SPF 15 that blocks both UVA and UVB rays every time you go outside. It should become part of your daily skin routine!
4) Pamper yourself.
There’s a lot of downtime in the Top Model house. Making homemade face masks will not only make your skin look great, they’ll help pass the time and make for a great bonding experience! There’s lots of great options for different skin ailments and treatments, check out several great ideas here! I’d also keep a travel sized hydrating mist on hand. When you’re a model, you’re always on the go and you’ll never know when you need a quick fix-up.
5) Eat and sleep well.
A good diet and sleep habits will do wonders for your skin. Avoid drinks like coffee and cola. Don’t smoke and keep your alcohol consumption to a minimum. All these habits cause wear and tear on the skin and will make you feel run down and less healthy. Drinking causes puffiness and redness too, which doesn’t translate well on camera. When you don’t feel great, you don’t look great. And we know how Tyra and company would feel about that.
Tune in at 8pm on Wednesday, September 9th for the two-hour premiere of America’s Next Top Model!

This is silly…I hope some other blog starts with some info about top models because paid stories is totally lame.
LIES WHY IS IT THAT JAJA SHABO ISN’T THE WINNER WHEN SHE HAS THE HIGHST SCORE, AND POSTING IN AT 164000+ CANADA NEXT TOP MODEL JUDGE DECIDED THAT IT’S BEST TO CAST HER AS THE NEXT TOP MODEL. SO, WHY IS IT THAT TYRA BANKS IS DOING THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BE FAIR AND LEGAL.
not crazy about sell-out blog postings. i can handle the side-bar ads, but this is too much.
