Gilmore Girls officially aired it’s last episode one year today. As the one-year anniversary of the end of Gilmore Girls, it is fitting that today is also the final episode in the Gilmore Girls marathon we started way back in November.
Gilmore Girls began on October 5, 2000 and enriched our lives with 154 episodes right up until the final episode of Season 7 on May 15, 2007. Since that time, crushable.com has kept you up to date with any news about Gilmore Girls, any campaigns to bring the show back, and all the latest on the wonderful cast. Television has never seen a community as strong and as devoted as this one, and it’s a pleasure for me to be a part of keeping that going.
On November 7th, we began re-watching Season 1 through 6 of Gilmore Girls as they aired each weekday on ABC Family. Today we will be watching the season finale for Season 6.
ABC Family will not be continuing to Season 7, probably a syndication license issue, so will be re-starting the entire series again tomorrow. So, now we have a choice. Do we continue watching Season 7? I have those recapped already in the same detail as we’ve been doing thus far, and can simply add some discussion questions.
Or do we start over again from Season 1? If we do this, we can go into more depth with some of the cultural references, the choices in the writing, the growth of the characters, the guest stars, or just about anything. I would also love to invite you guys in, if you choose this path, to be guest writers here. Knowing when the episodes will air, and having full references to the episodes, I’d love to give you an opportunity to write some articles – your thoughts, some fun pieces on the pop culture references, some quotes, the music, or anything you would like. Whether related to a specific episode, or an article relating to the show or season or theme. I will write some too – but this community is special because of all of you, so this is a great chance to be a part of that.
So, as always with this site, the decision is yours! Let me know what you want, and we’ll follow that path!
There is a chance ABC Family will continue to Season 7 next time through.

Keep going through season 7, there’s a lot to discuss there too.

True – the only problems with going to Season 7 are:
1. It’s not on tv, so everyone needs to watch it on DVD
2. It ends sooner. We’d need to wait more than 6 months before ABC may restart again.
Some considerations. I still want to do Season 7 collectively again, but it’s harder right now to co-ordinate.

I vote neither and would prefer going a different direction. I suggesting spending time talking about each of the non-star characters. Maybe pick one a week. It is such a rich universe of characters that this could keep us going almost indefinitely.
It is a little hard to keep up with an episode a day anyway. I end up glossing over the recaps for the most part.

I hate season 7.
and I hate the fact that there’s no proper ending to the show.

I think we should continue throught with season 7 and in addition to that we still keep up with any news relating to the cast like we have been. I really love doing the polls mostly to see if I know the right answer which most of the time I do..anyway this is a GREAT fan site no matter what we do because other sites I’ve seen are not nearly up to date as this one…

Just got news that October Road was cancelled. Funny the news comes a year after Gilmore Girls. I miss Gilmore Girls more than I can say. It was really the only show that I followed without miss, and I will miss it always. I am always hoping that some news will come up that this has all been a nightmare and it will start up with new episodes. Oh sadness.

I was crying so much yesterday! I watched the series finale and my eyes were brimming the whole time! The show ended on May 15, 2007, not May 14, 2007. There are 153 episodes because Season 1 only had 21 episodes in it, not 22 like the other six! I think you should continue with Season 7 anyway, I am on the DVDS!

You do such a great job with the recaps; I’ll keep peaking in no matter what path we take.
With Season 1 starting up again, I’m putting together a compilation DVD of all my favorite GG moments. Such a great show. I still envy those of you who caught it from the very beginning in 2000, and posted as it went along. Wow! These boards must’ve been on fire!!!

I wish I could follow along with season 7, but I am trying to buy the DVD’s from ebay and someone always outbids me :( . It was kind of neat seeing the very first episode airing again. Pretty soon we will get to see the episode where Kirk wasn’t Kirk (he was called “Nick”, wasn’t he? or was it Ed?). I am interested in knowing what the age range is for those of us who love Girlmore girls. I am 44 years old and have to say it is one of my favorite shows of all time. And my 9 year old daughter likes it, but there are parts of it I just can’t let her watch. What parts of Gilmore girls make you cry? For me it was when Emily walked into the house after her first date since she and Richard’s seperation, and she burst out crying. I have also cried whenever Jess got rejected by Rory; I think it is because he reminds me of my ex-husband, who still occupies a soft spot in my heart.

Melanie-One of the parts that makes me cry is when Lorelai gives Luke the ultimatum and she sleeps with Christopher, and then the episode where she tells Luke she slept with Christopher-IT BREAKS MY HEART you can see them both hurt…then when Rory refuses to marry Logan it makes me sad……

Actually, Kirk was originally Mick. I am 22, and I really didn’t get obsessed with GG until season 5 aired. I got the DVD’s and have all 7 seasons, and have seen each season several times…so many I don’t even know how many times. The only season that I haven’t watched as much is Season 7….because most of it pissed me off….and I didn’t think a lot of the writing was as good as ASP. As for the moments that make me cry….Rory’s High School Graduation speech ALWAYS makes me cry, when Rory comes back to Lorelai in Season 6, and they hug in the yard. Luke and Lorelai’s break up-both times. And of course the final episode. Those are the big ones at least.

I cried in basically all of the same parts as you did Kati. I am only fourteen and I didn’t start getting obsessed until the end of season 5. I now own all the seasons on disks and I am watching them all over again.

i’m sorry to say this, but when my friend lent me all the seasons, i only watched season 7 once, i think it was because i hated it, but somewhere deep down i think it was because i mad that it was over, and didn’t want to be reminded everytime i watched the fianle episode, but i think we should watch the 7th season together, to get over it and!
