Hilary Duff’s coming-of-age movie, Greta, will be previewed at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
The news states that Voltage Pictures acquired the teen drama. No other details yet, but it’s great to hear the film has found a distributor and will be screened (I think that’s what the news means(.
About “Greta”
Hilary Duff stars as Greta, a 17-year-old girl struggling with feelings of suicide. Pushed aside by her mother Karen, Greta goes off to her grandparents (Ellen Burstyn, Michael Murphy) in Ocean Grove for the summer… against her will. She makes it known that she wants to kill herself during the summer, and compiles a book of suicide methods. It’s not until Greta falls for the short-order cook (Evan Ross) at the diner where she works, and realizes that people care for her fate, that things change. Check out the trailer for the film here.

Anything that shows at this Cannes place no one ever sees, except at most in your video store discount bin, so I wish them luck. The mention of Cannes means a movie is on its way out before it gets released, and is regarded as unsellable product to a general audience. Meaning, in short, they’re trying to sell it as an art piece to whoever is willing to buy it. It looks like they need everything they can get to help it out. I hope her other movie will fare better.
