According to Ausiello’s report, James Pickens Jr. (the Chief) has confirmed that both Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving the show.
“Yes, she is,” Pickens said when asked if Heigl was checking out of Seattle Grace. “Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best.” And what about Knight? “He’s going too,” Pickens said. “He just wanted to pursue other career paths.”
And the sad news continues because even though ABC hasn’t officially confirmed the news (and by all accounts it appears that the Chief “jumped the gun”) Pickens isn’t just spreading rumors for the sake of doing so.
Insiders confirm that both Heigl and Knight want out and that the question isn’t really “if” they’ll be leaving but rather when they’ll be leaving.
“Right now, the whole thing is in the hands of their agents and ABC’s lawyers,” explains an insider. “Something will probably be worked out soon, but it’s a safe bet that Katherine and T.R. won’t be returning as series regulars next season.”
Wow, that’s really depressing. It’s not surprising, but it’s depressing. I had gotten used to the idea that T.R. Knight might go, but both of them? Grey’s isn’t Grey’s without George and Izzie!
I think another pressing question is how will the characters be written off?
I’ll keep you guys posted on this. Medical miracles happen every day, right? Maybe we can still hope.

not surprised. at first i was upset about it, but the more i think about it..i’m angry that they would do that to their fans. i guess that’s what happens when these actors get big egos.. oh well. as a true fan, i have faith in my favorite show and will continue tuning into grey’s.
i was also very upset and a little angry first, but now i am ok with it because george (t.r. knight) hasn´t a real storyline anymore and is just shown for a few minutes, so his decision i am totally understand.
BUT izzie has a great storyline, very exciting, so i will really miss her!!!
but we need to see it positiv too because i am sure that izzie will die in the final episode and that will be so much drama… crying!!!!
k. h. is also doing great movies, like knocked up or 27 dresses, so i still like her and will watching her career.

i don’t blame the actors. i think the writers are at fault for setting aside the storylines of original cast members to focus on the newer people (that honestly, I don’t really care about). it seems like this wouldn’t be an issue if they had brought on new characters to further the growth of the original cast instead of replace them.
T.R must think that he’s going to have a bigger career after Grey’s. I must admit, I am skeptical. And Katie… well, I think she’s just the hit thing right now. Give it a little time and Katie will fade just as quickly as she rose. And then she’ll be kicking herself and she’ll deserve it.
i’m very saddened more about them BOTH leaving. they made a good pair as friends. if they wanted to leave though, the writers worked it out to where they weened us away from seeing them together, not to mention never seeing George! which has bothered me for weeks. i don’t know how they will replace them, but adding more story lines for Callie won’t do it for me.
I´m so upset!!! are they actors?? or what??? If they move to others things are they beliving… that they are going to be ok??? I´m sorry because I love Izzi (I don´t care George) and Kath is good in the role… but if she doesn´t care, she doesn´t care about the fans… neither we can do anything at all… I don´t want to say that but… could be good if they put others actors to play their role? Is awful I know but the show is going down if they lost Izzi… and George too…
Maybe it’s for the best
Maybe Izzie ‘n George are ready for greater things
Maybe the show will be okay without them
Maybe they will be replaced with better and bolder characters
…Or Not

well, it is sad…but not surprising though.
I´m actually wondering what`s going to happen to alex? he finally got izzie..they`re so great together…after all he`s been through…
and by the way….shame on kahterine and t.j., if you love a show and the fans, be a “brave” actor and announce it yourself! don`t hide!
i can understand why they are leaving. i wouldnt be surprised if the denny storyline pushed katie away. and TR hasnt been given any decent material since the first 5 or 6 episodes of the season. i can imagine katie moving on and doing tons of movies while shes still the “It” girl.
TR came from the theater, so from the get-go he most likely isnt someone in hollywood just for the fame. he loves acting, so why would he waste his time on a show with writers who wont give him anything or anyone to work with?
it sucks, but i would rather see my 2 favorite people from Grey’s move on to bigger and better things. i just hope they end everything well
It seems that Katie Heigl really doesn’t like staying in one place for very long, even if that means sacrificing career stability. It’s possible this girl has one LARGE ego, or maybe she would rather just try new things rather than do the safe thing. She got lucky with Roswell, which was canceled in it’s third season but Grey’s is still going strong so she actually has to leave.
I don’t know how to feel about this except for the fact that it ruins my favorite couple Alex/Izzie. Sigh.
Well, I’m not really sad to see Izzy go. It’s painful to watch Alex/Izzy, but I think it’s ridiculous that the writers have basically forced George to leave. If they gave him something worth sticking around for, he would. But they just haven’t given him a proper story line for nearly a season and a half. It’s pretty sad.
I’m going to miss them both so much! Izzy and Alex just started to get closer! Poor Alex! And George!! He’s one of the funnier characters on the show who has been through a lot!! (just like Izzy) I really hope that they send them off well, so they can come back every once in a while in future episodes!
again, i really don’t think the actors are at fault here. it’s not like t.r. has been writing himself out of the show or katherine came up with the bizarre relationship with dead denny. you didn’t hear them complaining when the writing was well done and the story lines were actually realistic. the focus is supposed to be on the original interns and its frustrating when the writers write them lame plots (or none at all). i say they need to get back to the basics that everyone loved about the show if they want to discontinue this downward spiral. and when izzy and george leave the show, it will be the first time any of the five original interns will have left. i doubt greys will float for much longer.
good for them!! i think it’s smart of them to get out before Grey’s goes down and drags their careers with it. and it’s quite rude of you all to think TR won’t get another job. or KH. if they want to they can. i’m sure if they had been fired everyone would be “omg i hope they get something soon!”. and even more, TR is being WASTED on greys. who wouldn’t want to get out of that?
tbh who cares what the fans think about it. its not YOUR careers and life. stop being so selfish and hoping they fail and saying they don’t care about fans etc. you have no idea what’s really going on behind teh scenes.
Wow! I was expecting TR to leave, but am quite surprised that Katherine is now leaving the show. I’m sure this wasn’t a decision that either of them took likely. Not wanting to disappoint the fans, while also doing what they feel is best for them. Katherine seems to have a pretty busy schedule between movies and the show, plus being married not that very long ago. If she’s thinking of starting a family, and still have a career, keeping both the show and movies would be nearly impossible.
So many points are likely to contribute to their departures. Maybe TR really prefers stage acting, or wants to live in NY. Maybe Katherine has chronic fatigue syndrome and needs to cut something out of her schedule! Or have babies. Who knows! No one but them. I take it on faith that they are good people who did not make this decision lightly and have good reasons for leaving the show. I’m sure they’ll both do well in whatever path they choose! Good luck to them, and thanks for the good times!
TR leaving I’m WAY O.K. with since from the start he has been an issue on the show, remember being part of the Washington leaving, and I never really liked him all the much…. Not really that good on the show (EVER)…
KH leaving, this sucks and not just because I think she is good on/for the show, but because of what this will do to ALEX (Justin Chambers) on the show… Remember the “I will not die or go crazy” from Izzie to Alex??? I think she should have the chance to do other things, maybe she upset the writers, but this is something I’m still going to hope does not happen!!!! I WANT MY DAM MIRACLE!!!!!
Until Shando Rhimes puts out a statement herself that the two have left the show… it’s all still rumors in my mind. Not that I’m thinking wishfully here, but just realistically, we still don’t know.
If they do leave, so be it. I’m a die-hard MerDer fan and the excellent acting that Sandra Oh puts out is enough to keep me happy and interested.

Grey’s Anatomy is not about those two. Grey’s Anatomy has a very great ensemble. And, this show is not monopolized by just a few character. I hope they do go well tough if this news is true.

I’m kind of tired of all the Heigl/TR drama. If they’re going to go, I want them to go. The only thing I’m sad about is the Alex and Izzie factor. I waited so long for that to happen and now poof. Little things keep me interested–I’m really liking Hunt/Christina, BUT I’m seriously thinking about saying adios to Grey’s.
george and izzie hmmmm!!!i thinki its best they do for izzies does real well in her movies as the main or top star…as for george wish he had more lines in grey’s but with christina and dr.hunt as well as callie and mcsteamy along with the rest of the cast they should still be number 1 in the ratings hope will see more of callie for she is one of my favorite actress and dr.yang….
