“Brave New World” was a perfect example of why I love Grey’s Anatomy as much as I do. I loved the episode so much I wanted to watch it all over again when it was over just so I could experience it all over again. I really hope the season continues with more episodes like this one.
My favorite parts:
- Callie telling Bailey about her and Hahn. The look on Bailey’s face made me fall off the couch laughing.
- Bailey’s “Africa” metaphor when giving Callie advice later. Hilarious.
- Cristina discovering the Dermatology section of the hospital. Zen Cristina was brilliant. That whole part of the episode was awesome.
- Alex and Izzie fighting over the surgery was great, too. I liked the whole Wild Wild West/Cowboy thing.
Those are the scenes that stand out, though I thought the whole episode flowed really smoothly.

Relationships recap:
- Meredith and Derek are moving along slowly, but at least they’re moving along. I thought they could’ve used a bit more screen time. I love Meredith’s friendship with Cristina but sometimes it seems like Meredith is dating her instead! But I thought the end with Cristina and Meredith reading the journal was really interesting. I wonder if Meredith will get to a point where she allows to share that much with Derek.
- Alex and Izzie are progressing nicely. Their chat at the bar at the end, prompted by Izzie’s speech to the patient’s wife about hurting the ones you love was really nice. I can totally see them kissing next week.
- It broke my heart that George left Lexie sitting there in the bench to run off with Meredith and Izzie and Cristina. When she walked into the bar to find him there with everyone else, I really felt for her. I kind of feel like Lexie would make a better couple with Mark some times, but I think they’re doing a good job of showing how Lexie feels about George and how blind George is to those feelings.
- Callie and Hahn had a bunch of really good moments in this episode. I thought Bailey’s advice was (confusing but) wonderful. Their chat in the restaurant was great. You can see they’re kind of falling for each other, despite their nervousness and hesitation. I figure it won’t be long before everyone finds out about that they’re not just best friends.
Cristina is still flying solo but not for much longer!
Overall, great episode.

I think it was the best episode in a looong time. It’s the Grey’s of old!
Excellent writing… even better acting… episode definitely drew me into the story. I was especially touched by the whole little boy story line and how George understood him and was able to calm his fears before surgery. He may be an annoying idiot when it comes to relationships, but as a doctor he’s a winner.
I did like the episode – great, except need more Meredith and Derek – although I like that they are taking it slow.
I like that Derek gave Izzie and Alex hell for acting like jerks. I didn’t like that the both of them acted that way. I also didn’t like the Izzie pulled the patient in that way – that was wrong and so not compassionate on Izzie’s part – the man was facing the possibility of death and Izzie used the patient to get even with Alex!
I liked the dermatology portion. And I think Hahn is an ASS!
The Callie/Erica storyline was so cute. Bailey was halarious with her Africa trip. I think the two are going to be a couple for a long time on the show. At least, I hope so.
I hate Callie and Hahn together. I just don’t like it at all.
I think MerDer need to spice things up. And I think Mark and Lexie should have something go on, if not her I want him to be with someone. I like Izzie for standing up to Alex, He was such a jerk to her. I think he is going to realize he needs to start being nicer to her because she is the only one who cares about him. I don’t mind the Callie and Hahn thing I think it will be interesting plot line. I really did like the scenes with Callie and Mark (they were spicy!) I can’t wait for next weeks episode…
What was the name of the song that was playing in the background when George was preparing the little boy to watch the surgery and accidentally went into the wrong surgery, which btw was hilarious!
Bailey’s speech to Callie was great! Talking about uncharted territory, lol.
I agree with Brittany, this was the best episode in a LONG time. I really enjoyed George and the little boy, I thought that was really cute and charming. I am not a huge fan of Callie and Erica being together, I feel like the relationship is forced. I would also rather have our main characters be the focus of the storyline (Mer, Derek, Izzie, Christina, George, and Alex). I would rather see them develop Alex’s character more than some of the other story lines that are going on right now.
