So the latest Grey’s Anatomy drama happening at the moment has less to do with fictional plotlines and everything to do with behind-the-scene happenings. Why is this always the case with this show? Oh hai, November sweeps!
One actress is fired, one relationship goes poof, one character goes from bi to straight, and none of it makes a whole lot of sense to me. But how do you feel about it?

I could go on for hours. I loved their relationship. It was built up so much, and I know Shonda had intended it to go on.

I am really disappointed about Brooke being fired. Her character had so much depth and Brooke really portrayed Erica brilliantly!
Callica was one of the most interesting storylines on the show, and of course i will still watch, but I won’t be too happy if Callie gets back with Mark. Mark is one of my favourite characters, but Callie needs to be with a girl, and it would seem very homophobic of ABC to put Callie back with a man after firing her lesbian love interest.
Anyone noticed how Joe the bartender is getting less and less episodes…
Anyway, I am very upset and disappointed, but Well Done Brooke, you have done a magnificent job!

I really feel for the actress brooke smith because i think she did a brilliant job playing her irritating pest of a character but i hate her character so in regards to the show i dont mind at all
What ABC did to Brooke is deplorable! Of you want to end the ralationship, okay, you will still piss a lot of people, including me, off…but come up with a different storyline for Brooke! They had so much that they could have done with Erica becoming a better teacher…mentoring Yang… I am dont with ABC/Disney and I am done with Grey’s! As far as I am concerned the season 4 finale was the series finale.
I’m livid. ABC threw in with the homophobes. They have chosen their audience: intolerence and ignorance. I hope they’re happy together.
The relationship definitely had potential and the actress did not have to be fired to change the storyline if it was so offensive.
Erica’s character had so much potential and the Callica romance had potential as well.
I’m done with not only Grey’s Anatomy, but ABC. I’ve stopped watching Private Practice, Boston Legal and Ugly Betty. It’s sad to see them go, but I guess I’ll be over at Fox with House and Bones…
They shouldn’t have promoted the storyline so much and then just dropped it that way and made a great actress suffer the consequences.
Ok one more episode and then STOP watching…They kill off Erica thrusday night. In the promo you will see Callie crying and someone laying on the OP table bleeding, that is Erica. That is the end for me. You all stop watching and this chit will stop. No viewers and no show.
They make you love those 2. And then Bam they are history. I’m sooooooooo pissed. They need to get there chit together before next weeks episode and get Brooke back there and fix this show. Brooke needs to make nice with Callie and go on from there. I want them both seeing leaves.
Whatever I suppose the new relationship with Bianca and her architect on All My Children will be next on the cutting room floor. ABC has always been consistent, they get a good storyline going with homo, tranny, lesbian characters and then fear causes them to pull the plug. Sponsors, ratings, and money call the shots. What are they so afraid of? It would be nice to see one of these storylines follow through with a hopeful ending or at least a well written one. Fear is the mind killer! Love, Love, Love! Love is all you need…The beatles.
IMO, Brooke Smith is a remarkably talented (and hugely underrated) actor. Eliminating her character as ABC did was not only a disservice to the actress herself but to the intelligence of Grey’s viewers. Her departure was shoehorned into an otherwise nuanced and well-executed storyline, and for me, her absence leaves an emptiness. It baffles me when people say that Hahn and Callie had no chemistry… and also when people say, “her character was so mean and awful… I’m glad she’s gone.” Let’s remember that Hahn was supposedly one of the top cardiac docs in the country… you generally don’t get to that level in a male-dominated field by being warm and fuzzy. And… just when we were given the opportunity to see the human side of the character she vanished into the night. What a waste.
I agree, it is such a waste, so what if she was mean? warm and fuzzy characters can sometimes be a little boring, just when we got a glimpse of who she was and a hint of a little character development and they panic and usher her off before they get any more complaints from the homophobes! 2008? whatever!
In England we’ve had wonderfully written gay storylines and they’ve been a massive hit, series like queer as folk was amazing and that was made in the late 90’s. I don’t understand why people got spooked by this storyline…it just wasn’t a big deal and i feel really sorry for the writers and actors who’ve had to run round covering it and also the poor actress who got kicked off coz noone had the good grace to continue.

I have to say that I’m very disappointed with GA & ABC with this turn of events. I mean, c’mon people! Seriously!?!?!
Brooke Smith was playing the role of Dr. Erica Hahn with conviction and remarkable credibility…& they gave her the boot just like that!?!?! What is up with your judgment, ABC? The storyline about her & Callie was just getting off the ground!
Anyhow, I think ABC’s brass & GA’s producers need to re-evaluate whether they’d like to be able to connect with the NOW instead of having archaic thinking & Stone Age beliefs that end up firing great actors just because they play homosexual characters.
C’mon people! Surely you can do better than that!
