I’ll reserve my thoughts for the comments and for a recap tomorrow – don’t want to ruin it for those who haven’t seen it yet.

As I’ve been saying all day, this “finale” was HORRIBLE! It would be a subpar normal episode… at best! I’m not even upset about MerDer… I’m too busy thinking of the sheer stupidity of making McBar Skank Meredith’s sister and not making Baily chief resident and Alex and “Ava” and I could go on and on… Would whoever wrote the Denny arc please come back and write a show worth watching again?
totally disappointed..i hope that next seasons gonna be better since i heard that not everyones gonna come back…DISAPPOINTED IN THIS EPISODE AND I THOUGHT THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN WAY BETTER….

I just now finished watching the season finale for the SECOND time, because I’m just that obsessed. I was sobbing by the time Cristina started ripping the necklace off both times. This second time, though, knowing what was coming, I started crying when Alex was searching for Ava. I do believe it’s made me lose all faith in humanity.
Or at least all faith in the writers of Grey’s.
Everyone is just so miserable. I think the point of that episode, the moral, was, no matter how hard you try to make it work and be happy, it’s flat out not going to happen…
Poor, poor Cristina. I can’t believe how big of a jerk Burke was. Poor George. I can’t believe he failed… They can’t very well bring him back after that, can they? He was one of my favorite characters. I do think he’s a jerk for not being there to witness one of his best friends being left at the alter.
It was alright… i do NOT like how they left Derek and Meredith. I want to know why Bailey was not picked and why Meredith was acting so strange. Come on they have to be okay that is what the show is based on. What is goin on with george? the left everyone so sad, why? There should have been a couple who had a happy ending for the season. Next season wont come fast enough for me.
The finale was awful. I’m not referring to the “cliffhangers” either. I mean the writing was horrible. I’m glad the show isn’t touchy-feely and doesn’t try to have happy endings, but seriously, the finale toed the line with being completely ridiculous.
I can’t stand Addison, so I’m glad she’s leaving. Her character has lost her plot purpose ever since the divorce.
Callie becoming chief resident is a joke. I can see her leaving George after coming to terms with the reality of Izzy/George. This opens the door to Bailey.
Bailey better take on a more pivotal storyline next season. She is the best character and was wasted all season.
Alex and Mark should be in a competition for Lexie. Having her and Derek in any form of relationship would be stupid.
Richard should remain Chief, spend more time at home, and allow for Derek to learn on the job in a slow transition.
George will be back and repeat his internship year.
Christina should have been the one that failed.
Meredith deserves Derek’s spite. She has become obnoxious.
Izzy should get with George. She’s gone through a similar situation as George and will bring him back.
Just my thoughts. But again, the finale was extremely poorly written. The season was lackluster, especially in comparison to season 2. Hope it gets better and that The Office doesn’t get moved to 9pm, because it would be no contest between the two.
I apologize if this has already posted… it SAYS that it did but I can’t see it anywhere so I’m posting again…
One thing that no one has really mentioned… everyone is blaming MEREDITH for leaving Derek. What about the episode where she is trying to call him and he’s ignoring the phone. Then he pulls away from her because the Chief says that she is the reason he won’t be choosing Derek? As far as I’m concerned the downhill slide with that couple started with him being a self-serving jerk. Just my opinion, of course. He does have nice hair though.
I thought is was absolutely rediculous and totally over-the-top. I’m done with the entire series.
I was very disappointed! When comparing to the finale last season which was a 9.5 this was a 2. I am saddened to see the writers just lose it so badly this year. They screwed up on so many levels….like with Gizzie and now the unbelievable back and forth with Mer.Der. I was glad to think that they are getting rid of Burke since he was always the weakest link but the prospect of losing George was a bit of a shock since he is the GLUE! I have absolutely no interest in what happens to Mer anymore since her last season of giving up and whining really goes against her first season of strength and personal character. Shonda really needs to see the value in the happy Derek scenes like when he was eating breakfast at Mer’s place. It is a real waste to not capitalize on Dempsey’s laugh and on screen moments of merriment which he does so well. Private Practice looks like a real snore and I will NOT be watching but will miss Addison from Grey’s. I hope that next season they do better. Unlike last year I am looking forward to my summer with no interest in the 4th season and am glad that the show is over for now.
So Does anybody know if Isaiah Washington was actually fired and not returning next season? I’ve been so sad all day cause i’ve been thinking about Derick and Meredith and Burke and Christina..seriously i was and still am!
Just watched on TIVO and I think that this Grey’s anatomy was beyond disappointing. I think that Christina having to do some surgery hours before her wedding was leading to her and Burke not getting married…I think the fact that Dr Shepherd did not take the position of Cheif speaks to his integrity, therefore, he probably will not have a romantic relationship with Meredith’s sister, but will probably try to be there for her on some level. I don’t know how Christina will fit in exactly. She was a very strong support for Burke’s character and probably will be awkward to see from now on. Her crying “I’m free” was confusing to me. It seemed like she was more relieved than sad yet shocked but my husband thinks she was going through a form or grief because she did really love him.
and another thing, I hate the lack of morale and values. It seems that the most of the relationships in this show are based or founded upon an affair of sorts. Where is the sense of loyalty. I hate that George feels torn between HIS wife and his bestfriend, who was in love with Denny not even a year ago! Why does he have to ruin it for Callie. (why was Callie telling Izzy about them having a baby She seems to always be suspicious of their relationship, but now she is telling her husband’s lover about getting pregnant?) I think that if George doesn’t leave the show for good, he will leave Callie and Izzy eventually.
I liked (not loved) the finale, though McDreamy and Meridith’s storyline needs to change. It’s too Big and Carrie as someone stated before…let McDreamy find someone…he’s too good for her and she’s too caught up in her own issues and such. But though I wasn’t thrilled about this episode, I’m ready for the fall!
I love T.R.Knight….he is a great actor and I love his charachter…I hope he doesn’t leave the show…I
m hating the “looks” between Meredith and Derick…

well, firstly, 3 seasons for 1 internship year? And in one internship year, a lot of interesting cases happened? Two interns got married (and one was left at the altar), Mer survived near-death situations twice. And Derek seperated, reunited then divorced in one year! and not to mention all the weird surgical cases! In a city like Seattle with half a million population, only boring surgeries like mastectomy, appendectomy, CABG or something like that should be popular. And weirder, interns got to assist in all those interesting surgeries. I was hoping for residents like Dr. Bailey or Sydney Herron to assist instead of interns operating on heart tumors (and transplants) and brains! And where are the fellows (post-residents) who are about to be attendings?? Man! This series screwed up big time!
And just to add some more, if all doctors are having affairs here and there, they are not respectable enough! False potrayal of doctors! And for the record, Callie shouldn’t be chief resident because she slept with Sloan, and the recommendation must’ve come from Sloan. Let’s let Dr. Bailey and Sydney Herron compete.
Why should the writers of this series focus so much on affairs and other unimportant stuffs rather than the surgical career area itself? It’s a big disappoinment for people who want to be surgeons to watch this affair-based movies! Show more surgeries please! I’m kinda tired of these affairs.
And please do some improvements on season 4. Finale sucks

The song at the end was “Keep Breathing” by Ingrid Michaelson.
That’s what the ABC website said but I can’t find it on itunes… I think it actually might be called “Corner of Your Heart” by the same person (Ingrid Michaelson).
I read Katherine Heigl (Izzie) will be making a movie next year. BURKE signed a contract for season 4. McDreamy has a contract for 6 years.
I don’t know about the others.
okay like come on ppl why all the hate this is GREYS ANATOMY. the show we love and cant get enough of. i think for most of you no matter what they did in the season finale you would have been mad and pissed off and bitched about it so there. they did an excellent job, the season was excellent. this was a dark season and they had dark story lines next season the fun is back i hear . so with that everyone just shut up and see what happends

At least McDreamy called Meredith the love of his life. So there is something to look for next year.
You all need to stop . Yes you will be tuning in next year. Why? Because you are junkies just like me. I am so over the derek and Meredith thing. But i’ll be back! I’m so over Alexis and his I’m to cool and mysterious to show I have feelings thing, But I’ll be back. I anticipated the sister in medical school that Thatcher used to talk about making an appearance at seattle Grace at some point, but to have any involvement with derek would be a sin, But I’ll be back! I really wanted christina and Burke to make it and wassooooo close, But I’ll be back! I hate hate hate this thing with Izzy and george and If they get together in any form I might not be back, But who am I kidding I’ll be back! One thing I will not be doing…watching that damn Private Practice I don’t know or want to know these people! And Honestly I can live w/o Addison! But I will see you ALL next year same Grey Time same Grey Place!
I read a few months back that when they hired the cast of Grey’s it was for a SEVEN YEAR contract. This past spring the cast was given a pay raise by the network because of the shows popularity. Breathe a sigh of relief Grey fans the only one leaving is Addison. And if her show doesn’t make it , it’s in her contract that she can come back to Grey’s.
I loved Thursday’s show. It left me feeling all the cast emotions. But new season please, please don’t let it end with Meredith and Dereks troubled relationship . That storyline is getting old.
Oh and for the die hard Grey’s fans(for those who don’t know about the Shondra page greymatters.com) check it out!
GA is turning into a one hell of a freaking soap opera…It’s so frustating…I’m a MerDer fan but…seriously…Derek needs to get over himself, if he sleeps with Lexie, GA is so over for me. I still love Meredith, you kinda understands why she is so screwed up…I think Mcsteamy is getting to be better choice for her…She needs fun in her relationship but then if she gets together with Sloan, then it’s over between her and Derek, and I still want them to end up together…just less drama please.
If they don’t end this Izzy/George thing, I’m done. I hate them together….there was no hint of attraction towards each other all season, and then Boom! They’re in love????

Callie and Addison are the only comic relief this show has, and now they are both probably gone. Bailey never gets enough screen time, and I can’t handle the heavy drama the last few weeks. Grey’s used to be drama and comedy..now it’s just “wow, how many bricks can we throw at Meredith??”. If she didn’t want to swim then, she certainly isn’t going to want to now.
Can Callie get a spin-off?? George dosen’t deserve her, but we do!
I didn’t care that it was depressing – I cared that it was poorly written and hokey, contrived and dull. My attention kept wandering from the listless dialog and I wish so much that they could be well-written depressing story lines at the very least.
Viewers shouldn’t have to read the writers’ blog to understand what they REALLY meant to convey about the characters – it should actually show up somewhere in the TV show itself. Oh, Derek isn’t the man you’ve been watching act like a jerk with hair for months on end, he’s actually a nice guy! Really, Shonda? Cool, now all we have to do is disregard his script, his scenes and the actions his character has taken. No problem! We believe the blog!
Well, ugh. It’s written for the lowest common denominator and even then they’ve undershot their mark. Maybe humiliation will light a fire under the writers’ butts for next season. Here’s hoping!
OMG could it really have been more depressing, the only remotely happy people were Callie and Webber and his wife. Why did Bailey not get chief or chief resident she’s obviously the best for the job!
Izzie just annoying in the finale, and i seriously hope they dont go down the whole Derek and Meredith’s sister road that wouldbe bad!

I thought the finale was on the depressing side, too. I really miss the funny stuff that would happen on a regular basis on the show the last two years, but I will continue to watch next year. It is a great show with a great cast–best on TV besides the Office. I think the writers are setting us up for some interesting match ups next year but I do hope Burke and Christine get back together. I really like them best of all.

I might watch the first episode but I doubt even that. She noticed everything that was missing. Christina and Burke was the solid thing in that show and they did love eachother. While everyone slept together. They were so cute together. And I do not want to see Lexi? with Derrick. Him and Merideth should work it out. (again) But still. I don’t want this new cast to take over. I love our cast!
I think it was the worst thing ever. I would have gone on happy with my life if everyone had a happy ending. Since there will be a new crew and practically be a new show anyways. If great characters had to leave it should have ended. It was sad because people were leaving the show and they had to cut the character. If Callie leaves the storyline will probably say she went off with George since he couldn’t make it. And she’ll be a doctor somewhere else. Our hope can only be that Isaiah Washington (Burke) and T.R. Knight(George) resolve their fight and ask for there jobs back, then they can get back on the show! Time to send in mail. lol. How could Callie win over Miranda? I mean did anyone see that coming? And also, do you think they are going to try and play out Merideth’s character and fill it with Lexie’s? I don’t know that was my first thought when she came in during the finale. Lexie and Derrick can’t get together if Shonda smartens up. Cause we seen that story line and we love Merideth and Derrick. Theyve gone through alot together. I was thinking for some reason Alex might go for lexie. Or Addison if she stays. But who knows there are new characters. By the way Hate. This sucks.
lately “debra” posted that all actors of the original cast signed 7 year contracts. This answers most questions. I hope LEXIE GRAY was not one those.
In the ending episode meredith asks derek to stay at her apartment the night before the wedding and he didn’t. If she is the love of his life, he should have jumped. Perhaps she is upset and the wedding day he tells her that she is the ‘love of his life’ and gets no response.
Who was walking toward each other ner the front window of the hospital? Is it important? Will we ever know?

I’m totally not seeing this show anymore. It’s so depresing that I’m starting to be depresed myself. There are no happy endings at all in life? that’s what Shonda thinks? So why do we live? let’s all go drown and finish the whole thing…

patcat from what I’ve read Lexie, was signed on for 12-13 shows. The cast that have the 7 year contract are Ellen, Patrick, T.K., James, Chandra, Katherine, Justin, Sandra, Isiah. I also know Eric will be staying on even after Kate leaves (though I don’t know how long his contract is for). I myself think he is going to be fun to watch next season.
OOPS!! I can’t believe I called T.R. T.K.. And to think he is one of my favorite Grey’s character.

wow do any of you actually really watch the show-
Burke leaving Christina at the alter is a testimate to how much he tried to change her and how musch she loved him. She was changing into something she was not for teh sake of her love for him and it was suffocating her-hence the surgery hours before her wedding-that was the only place that she was able to be where she felt like herself. If you watched Burke at the end he even said If I really loved you then we wouldn’t be here-
I hate Mer-but the whole MerDer thing has now come down to the fact that she can never make him a priority-that he does not think emotionally he can be with someone who thinks so little of herself and who never fights for herself even though she thinks that she does-how many times can he rescue her or how many times can she push him away-but he loves her and will not walk away until she walks away first-which she is not strong enough to do….she needs to put up or shut up…
and the whole Callie/Izzie/George thing-c’mon..Georhe never ever in a million years thought taht he could be with someone like Izzy -Callie (who I adore) loved him and pushed him so george fell into it-and now that Izzy has feelings for him he has to struggle with being a good person, hurting Callie and following his heart-this is TV-one season is the equivelant of a long time in real life so that explains why Izzy was in love with Denny and now in love with George..oh and I guess no one in real life has ever realized they had feelings for a close friend after that person was dating someone else…
more importantly anyone who said if this or that happens next season i will stop watching is suspect because this is TV not real life…geez
The finale was completely awful. I’m only writing in hopes that the writers will read this and stop ruining the only show that I make sure I watch. I like all the characters, but I watch the show for Meredith and Derek. The show was the only fun entertainment I have in my insanely busy life and it is going to s#$%! Thanks a lot. I can get over a lot in the Meredith/Derek storyline, but not a flirtation or romance with Lexi.
I will tape the first few episodes next season, but not bother watching them unless I hear that they are not doing something stupid with Derek/Meredith/Lexi. If so, I have zero problem hitting the delete button without viewing.
For those people saying that we won’t stop watching…if Grey’s goes the way it looks to be, you just wait and see what their numbers look like next season as testimate that we’re serious.

Well…I think all the mess stemmed from the chief’s decision to make Derek chief. Derek told Burke at the altar that he wasn’t named chief and that him and Meredith might not make it. I think that’s why he told Christina he was letting her go. I think Burke will be chief next season and I think Derek and Meredith with get married. I think Burke wanted Chief more than Derek and I think Derek wanted to get married more than Burke.
As chief, I think Burke will help O’Malley get a second chance to take his intern exam, after all O’Malley helped Meredith. O’Malley’s Burke’s guy. I have no idea what will happen with Callie and Izzie. Maybe, he’ll dump them both and go for Lexy Gray. Maybe, he’ll repeat his intern year with her.

I totally regret watching the finale, I really really hate that lexie chick! I don’t even plan on watching season 4 cos it’s so obvious that the writers are gonna hook up derek and her and I so don’t wanna see that.

i agree with diana! why do they add and add new cast members making the complicated and unresolved issues of the original characters more complicated and seem doomed. We want them resolved first before we (the fans and viewers) can take on new issues and new characters in the show. less is more. want to see in season 4 the life, energy, promise that season 1 and 2 brought us. this season was a roller coaster, well it always has been in seasons 1 and 2 but here in three, roller coaster up up then it plunges straight down! put meredith back to life in season 4. dont ruin mer’s and dereks relationship its the one true foundation of the show!!! hear us out we dont want grey’s to be a dissappointer like the show the O.C.!!!
I really enjoyed the finale if they is even possible… it left alot of questions out in the open… and now at least we can get over the whole merideth/Derek on again off again romance and focus on poor George and Izzie… i think callie should take a hint and back down… lol
But i felt sorry for Christina too… i mean she lost her eyebrows for Burke and then he left her at the altar.. hmmm
Okay, I had this same discussion right after the show on another forum. I will repeat what I said on there.
1. I loved the finale! I may not have liked everything that happened, but I told my husband it was one of the best episodes (if not THE best) of the season!
2. I asked: Seriously… if everything went right for everyone, if there was no drama except the medical cases, how long would you actually keep watching? This is what makes television! The show keeps me wanting more. I think it got a little weird this season and the finale (to me) brought it back on course! SO SERIOUSLY! Do you really want everything to be just the way you think it should be???

Why does so many people hate Lexie? She hasn’t been in a scene moe than maybe 90 seconds. How do you know what type a character she will be playing? I think just because she offered to buy Derek a drink she became barslut. Remenber folks Meredith holds the title of McWhore. Think about season 2 people.
I’m just saying give Lexie a chance. Yeah she may turn out to be a bitch, or she may turn out to be sweet.
Let’s just wait and see what happens before passing judgement.
yeah i didnt like this episode…=[…i was so sad cuz everything is falling apart again. I mean cristina and burke arent together and dat sucks becuase they really love each other. I really dont think they can get abck together. And meredith and derek are still screwed and i have no idea what’s gonna happen with them. And WHY DA HELL IS CACLLIE GETTING CHEIF OF SURGERY?!?!?!?! DATZ SO STUPID!!!! bAILEY SHUDA GOT DAT!!!! ARRRRGGHHH!!!!……well yeah i really hated this episode and all i can say is dat next season better get better.
