Word from Ausiello this week points to another Katherine Heigl hiatus starting early next year. This time, the reasons for her time off are personal in nature: she wishes to spend time with her new daughter. Who can fault her for that? Of course, she’s not the only new mom on the block, so I wonder how all the new moms are taking to this break? Ellen Pompeo was quick to get back to work after giving birth and I’m sure she wouldn’t mind some extra time with her daughter.
Look for Izzie to go MIA again after the holiday break.
In the meantime, the question lingers: Is she really pregnant? Ausiello wouldn’t give a yes or no answer to the question, but he did say that “ABCs promo gurus are very sneaky!” So my guess is that they cut the promo in such a way that it made us think Meredith was talking to Izzie but was in fact talking to someone else. Whether that someone else is someone important or a guest star/patient, I have no idea. Or – Izzie could be pregnant. But I’m doubting that.
In other news, if you’re looking for some news on The Chief, Ausiello reveals that he will be “falling off the wagon” at the end of tonight’s episode.

You know I had thought that I would miss Izzie when she left the show for a bit, but I really didn’t miss her at all….sad to say but I guess it shows that her character isn’t truly needed after all.
And if KH keeps taking all these breaks from the show, why doesn’t she just leave for good?!?! Whats the point of writing storylines to go around her, only to have her leave and the others play them out?!?! Getting kinda tired of all of this already. And I understand that she wants to spend time with her new adopted daughter, but doesn’t she think that Ellen would have liked more time off with her new baby as well?!?!
As far as the chief goes, I still like him, but I think he needs to get it pulled together. He used to be a father-figure for most of them at SG and now its like he doesn’t want his kids anymore or the new ones for that fact. I know things like a merger are rough times, but he needs to pull it together and show them how it can be done….and falling off the wagon is not pulling it together!
Maybe all these changes are a way for Shonda to switch out all of her original cast with new faces?!?!
What Heigel’s asence has only solidified in my ind is ust w outstanding he rest ofte cast of GA is. She doesn’t carry the show by a long run. She is far from the only character I’m invested in, so let her take her breaks. Doesn’t break my heart…
