Director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, among others) is seriously going for the chance to direct Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:
“I’m definitely interested,” he insisted, “now that the movies have grown darker. They have a contrast between the gloomy existence of the kid and the world he’s exposed to. They have evolved into a really nice universe.”

Here’s the history of directors on the Harry Potter films:
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: Chris Columbus
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Chris Columbus
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Alfonso Cuarón
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Mike Newell
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: David Yates
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince: David Yates
Who do YOU think should direct Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

Wendy since it’s an opinion my feeling was POA had the best direction and held the most detail . The flow in POA was the best of all the movies . I think Deathly Hallows is just full of detail that needs that kind of direction and editing and care . There is a huge feminine influence in DH . Alfonso Cuaron by far handled that interaction the best .I would like to hear what you think . My biggest fear is that they will destroy this movie by making it 90 min .
Dannl, that’s an interesting viewpoint….and you’re right there is a feminine influence in DH. I’m torn between Cates and Cuaron.
