My kids LOVE listening to stories, and once they found out they could listen to Harry Potter audio books….well, that was IT! Jim Dale is the voice behind all the Harry Potter audio books, and if you click on the links on the jukebox below, you’ll be able to listen to excerpts of him reading from all seven books in the series.

guys you’re having a fight over who’s stupider. Yes I said stupider. And you understand the message anyway. You both made gramatical mistakes, (as did I) does it really matter? It’s harry potter! Don’t fight about which version is better. American or British, either way it’s an amazing series that we all love. The books are different in some spots. But the word stupider didn’t change the message and neither does certain wording difference. Regardless of the grammer, we love the books and we love Harry. So stop fighting.
They’re both great readers. I always listened to Dale and maybe that’s why I like him better, but Fry is great as well.
By the way, l.j. don’t call an entire country stupid. That’s just ignorance. Backgrounds are different all over the world, they don’t determine intelligence.
you are a seriosly stupid dick
Hello everyone
First of all sorry that I write in this topic but I have some technical problem with the use of this forum. When I’m trying to enter in the appropriate topic, I received a 404 error It’s about the only topic in which I was able to enter. Do you have the same problems? What’s going on?
lily, so i said “to” instead of “too”, you just wrote “how dare are you”.
Amy, Lily is so right. You are a moron. So stfu.
this is gay
personaly; i haven’t read the stephen version just jim.. maybe thats why i believe hes freakin awesome. This was the first audio book i ever heard and for being my first it was amazing,i dont know maybe it was just the fact that the books are amazing!! but besides that (JAX) i enjoy dobbys voice it fits perfectly with his character!
Sorry, but my life changed once I listened to the audio books read by … Stephen Fry! The English version helps one relate more to the movie and the actors. I loved Stephen! Jim Dale – sorry, it’s not looking good. But why would there be a different version for this? Why did they even bother to create an American version? You’d think J.K would allow for one and only one version. That’s just like someone else remaking all of the movies, using American actors! I guess the market is so big that there must be a choice and a variety. Yes, the books are always better than the movies! And I’m America, jic you were wondering.
My dearest Amy, how dare are you to accuse Americans in being “to dense” while you cannot express yourself grammatically. I would not post something like this if I were you; otherwise Americans might think that most Brits are “dense”. If you have difficulties with grammar, use the help of grammar and spell checker next time before posting, especially when you are trying to accuse somebody else of stupidity.
I agree with l.j most americans are to dense to understand our vocab and think they’re superior and so need an americanised version. plus stephen fry beats jim dale hands down. everything about the english version is so much better than the american, they just can’t take it that the greatest books ever written are written by and english person. the only good american book i have ever read is how I live now which is nicely written but at first it hard to see a good natured person behind all the stupid american slang.
Word. Books will never disappear. What a dummy.
It’s called the Sorcerer’s Stone in America because they have a different meaning for the word philospher. I don’t like it, partly because all the books (and others, not just Harry) have been “Americanised” but American books don’t get “Anglisised” when they come the other way across the Atlantic. It should work both ways, I have yet to work out what bangs are, or indeed what a beet is. (I know really, I am making a point).
Stephen Fry is a better narrator than Jim Dale, but the only one I heard Jim Dale narrate was Chamber of Secrets and he made Dobby, the squeaky voiced house-elf sound like Phil Mitchell from Eastenders. I couldn’t forgive him for that, it was terrible.
Oh, and the books are way better than the films and whoever said that paper books would die out… duh, where do you think the audio ones come from? Jim Dale/Stephen Fry didn’t read them out of their heads you know. The day paper books become obsolete is the day I throw myself under a bus, books are way better than most things – their batteries don’t wear out for a start, nor do they get scratched or become unusable if you leave them lying about. And they’re no where near as expensive.
Ok, Jesus Christ…. First of all…lord.of.the.rings.audio.books…..you hate books and think they will disappear?? What kind of moron are you? I have never heard anything so stupid. Ever. Except maybe l.j’s comment about Americans. I’m American and I can tell you right now that my grammar and spelling are far superior to yours…. How old are you? 10? And it’s probably called Sorcerers Stone because we have different words for things here. Who gives a shit? It’s the same book. Morons. I’ve never heard this other persons versions so I can’t say who’s better, but Jim Dale is pretty good, I think.
reason why its not called philosophers stone in america?, well not to offend, but about 90% of americans are stupid, like, really stupid so its to avoid confusion, which is stupid because it only creates confusion…. but yeh, jim dale’s versions suck, they really really do, im sure they are good if you havent heard the stephen fry version’s, but thats like saying the movies are good, if you havent read the books, the instant u read the books and watch the movies, you relise that they are an absolute pile o s**t. ive been to see the first few movies, and the askaban with my daughter, and after half way through she began to cry saying that there destroying her fav story (she was only 9 btw, so that shows how bad they are if they can reduce a 9year old to tears on how shoddy they are) anyway, get the stephen fry version, dont bother with jim dale, unless you like a boring, lifeless voice drilling a small hole in your head, then by all means, go right ahead
Jim Dale’s totally good. Course, so’s Stephen Fry. No offense to Americans, but Jim Dale really is rubbish compared to Stephen so ya. And why in the world is it not called the Philosopher’s Stone in America?! Isn’t that what J.K. Rowling originally wanted it to be called?!
Oh, and yes. It has a different title in America, but I don’t know why.
The thing is I grew up with Jim Dale so I would probably think he’s better whereas other people grew up with Stephen Frye SO you would think he is better. It’s just like I read the book Wicked before seeing the musical and liked the book better. The first one you see, or hear, is usually the one you like better because you expect it that way. You become biased.
I like this sit very much you should put more story thing on this sit and you should put games on this sit to
from
sine
I agree, No one is better than stephen fry
Jim dale reads to fast and there is hardly any difference between characters or the voices to the characters don’t fit; eks: voldemorts voice sounds like a old none scary greybearded git
that goes for Jim dale as well
So as I said, no one is better than Stephen Fry!
Rubish, crap, horrible, this Jim dale is absolute tosh
When it comes to Harry Potter Audio Books, no one, I sate no one is better than stephen Fry, Jim dale can stikk his version up his………
why does all the harry potter books 1-6 just starrt in the middle and not at the start of the books.
why is it called socerer’s stone????? its philosiphers stone!! (or is that the american version???!!?) and i think steven fry does the orignal ones a bit better!
