Hayden Panettiere in the docu-film “The Cove”

I’m sure you still remember the Japan trip that Hayden Panettiere made in 2007, the one that got her an Japanese arrest warrant for trying to save dolphins from slaughter. Along with Australian actress Isabel Lucas and other activists, Hayden went to Japan to protest the brutality against dolphins. Hayden actually witnessed the killings by a group of fishermen but they were forced to leave the area as the fishermen went after them.

The organization that spearheaded the trip in 2007 made a chilling film about this awful inhumane practice of slaughtering dolphins for their meat. Produced by Save Japan Dolphins, the film titled “The Cove” follows this team of activists and film makers as they gather information in a heavily-guarded cove in Taiji, Japan where the killings happened.

“The Cove” will be shown in theaters on July 31 in New York City and Los Angeles. The film won the Audience Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Fest.
