Hayden Panettiere to star in "’Footloose” remake?

E! Online first broke the news that Hayden Panettiere auditioned for a lead role in the “Footloose” remake, opposite “Gossip Girls” Chace Crawford. An insider apparently told the magazine that Hayden sang for the film makers and they were very impressed by her voice. Hayden’s place in the lead role of Ariel is not a done deal, but if Hayden makes it to the next round, she’ll be doing a dance audition with Crawford. His role is pretty much set – he’ll be the lead role as Ren McCormack.

Well, EW.com quickly followed the story and refuted the claim that Hayden auditioned. According to EW’s insider from production, Hayden did not even audition.

Hmm. Who should you believe? And do you want to see Hayden in musical remake of “Footloose”? I know she’d be great in it!
