I am still reeling from the beauty of how “Heroes: Volume 1″ ended. It was exactly what I thought it would be like, and yet every scene was a big surprise, until the end. Even Sylar, that pesky little cockroach!
So here are just some of the awesome images captured by NBC of the last episode of season 1 “How to stop an exploding man“.

The best part was the death of Sylar at the hands of an enduring hero.
From the start, Hiro Nakamura believed that he can save the world.
His journey brought him here, to his destiny.
YADA!

Matt Parkman, long battered by insecurity, now rises to his duty as protector of law and order. He saved Molly from death, and trailed his gun on Sylar.

But Sylar was too fast for him. Will Matt Parkman survive?
Nikki Sanders finds her strength. She had it in her all along. Maybe that’s what Jessica ‘taught’ her. Will her other half come back, or is it now and just Nikki?

Claire Bennet grows up and embraces her destiny. She is different, powerful and someone believes in her.

Surprise of the hour – Nathan Petrelli. What made him change his mind? Was it something his daughter said, “The future is not written in stone“?
Was it realizing that his mother is a lunatic who believes the end justifies the means? Was it his love for Peter, knowing that his brother will die if he doesn’t intervene?
I don’t know if we will ever know his fate. But in the end, he rose up to whatever good was left in him.
The big question – what happened to Peter Petrelli?
He was hero from the start. Desperately wanting to find meaning for his existence, he ’saved the cheerleader’ without hesitation. Knowing how he might end up killing millions in New York, he asked the niece he saved to save everyone else from him. His mother thought him weak, but a crippled Deveaux knew him better. LOVE, that’s what this is all about.
Peter’s ability to give unconditional love was what made him a hero to the end.
