Who is Adam Monroe?
The first glimpse we have of this man in episode 2.06 “The Line” is in the folder in Bob’s possession that Mohinder sees. At first it looked like he was just one of the many people that the Company wants Suresh to take in, but knowing how devious this group is, we know they leave nothing to chance and no one is ‘just another’ person. No doubt, Adam Monroe is a person of interest and a possible target of the Company. So much is at stake with capturing this man that the Company orders Mohinder to partner with Nikki, who has gotten her powers back and feels indebted to the Company for getting her life back.
Then later in the episode, we find out that he’s the one who left Peter in that cargo, with a box that holds clues to his past, including a ticket to Montreal. Peter follows his instincts and the painting that he drew to a house in Montreal where a note from Adam tells us there is more that this guy knows. He writes that the world is in danger and Peter must use his powers again to stop it. Clearly, this Adam knows something more about Peter, his past and maybe his future. Well, maybe the future of this world.
Who is Adam Monroe?
Anyone has any clues?

Adam Monroe is clearly Kensei. Now 400+ a few years old, he is immortal and for some reason has a grudge against the company….and i think he’s behind the whole “kill the 12″ thing. He will try to trick Peter into partnering with him, I’ll bet.
I think Samaritan is right….even looking at the timeline from when Hiro first met Kensei…Kensei would have been in his 80s, and he obviously either:
1. is NOT any age, really, because he can do what Hiro does and time jump
2. OR his “power” is immortality/agelessness.
Yeah. I think so too. Adam Monroe should be Kensei because Kensei is a Japanese name right? And “Kensei” is not a Japanese person unless his parents were (one Japanese and another American or from England) and he was born in Japan. So that would make sense and Kensei might have changed his name to Adam Monroe so no one would know that he was the legendary swordsman. I could go on but I won’t
Is everyone missing the whole Claude is Adam line of reasoning? Points in favour below:
The only reason we think that the invisible man’s name is Claude is because that is what he told Peter. This is probably an assumed moniker as Claude Rains is the guy that played The Invisible Man in the film of the same name.
We know that he worked closely with Peter and they have a rapport, so to speak. I know they fell out, but Claude should now be well aware that Peter is anti-company. That sort of equates to anti The Twelve although I am well aware they seem to have contradictory aims at times.
The company would be very concerned about taking him down again. After all, he was the original turncoat from The Company and would, I assume, have lots of dangerous information in his hairy little head. Enough to warrant Bob wanting to rush out the modified Shanti virus? I reckon so. I still reckon he might have been instrumental in turning Noah and the Haitian, those two story lines sort of happened around the same time like.
The whole thing is just sort of Claude’s style, you know it keeps in vein with his whole invisible life thang.
And just a couple of picky things, firstly Kensei was NOT born in Japan. He told Hiro he went there on a boat to find fame and fortune. Secondly, why would Kensei clearly be 80? None of that group are ageing, does this mean Yaeko is immortal too?
Adam is a new person who u have not met yet! he is friends with the dead girl simone’s father and the haitiern works for Adam Monroe, that is the reason for Peter’s memo loss.Adam is aware of everything peter is going through because he is always watching..
Personally, I think that “Adam Monroe” is Peter’s father and that he has the same ability as Peter, which is why Peter’s the most powerful of them all. I really would like to know what powers all of the original heroes have … Angela and Bob and Hiro’s father … it would be good to know these. Matt seems to be the only one who has inherited his father’s ability. The others all seemed to have changed in some way. But, yeah … the end of this season should rock, and I’m more than a little bitter that it must be cut short due to a strike. I get why they’re striking, and I agree with their plea. I just hate that it’s messing with my show!
To monolysis..Bob’s ability is to turn things into gold.
To S.I.T.: Oh, yeah! Thanks!
I think Angela’s power is to influence others. Its kinda creepy how Peter, Nathan and even his daughter followed Angela’s suggestions. No idea on Kaito’s powers
If Adam is the one who put together the company then why isn’t he in the picture of the 12? Bob said that he was the one who said that they were meant to save the world. Something had to of happen besides the hiro thing. I mean that was over +400 years he can’t hold a grude that long. I also suspect that adam has more than one power as well. Bob said that he stoped a title-wave.
And something thats not mentioned was peters farthers power or his mother both are unknown.
The 7 painting don’t mention anything about adam as well? And is Mohinder the one who shoots bennet?
Peter is going to be used for Adams sick purposes and the company might fall.
Just some thoughts.
[...] Adam Monroe is no other than Takezo Kensei, thousands of years later! [...]
I think that adam or “kensei” some how is related to the peter and nathan and claire , becuase he has the same power as Claire , and just like matt has the same power as his dad , Claire could have the same as her grandfather (or how ever he fits in the family) beuase if you notice Nathan and peter’s dad is looking away in he picture , and since Peter cant remember things who is to say that is not their dad . All i know is that Adam is some how related to the Peterilli family . That is my two cets
Adam is perhaps Kensei, but his powers were regeneration, regeneration doesn’t stops aging. I mean…look at claire. (she’s growing up). well thats my opinion, Adam might be a good guy though, since its “the company that is causing the troubles”
“As long as I have breath, anything you love I will lay to waste. I swear… You will suffer.” is what Kensei told Hiro in the past, which is why I believe that he still holds a grudge.
I don’t know, dude … 400 years of a grudge? I can go either way on this one … he’s good or he’s bad. I can see both unfolding.
And the reason why he is killing the 12 is obvious now – they kept him prisoner.
You might be right – he is not the one keeping viruses around; the company is. So he might not be the bad guy after all.
