I am excited about John Glover’s appearance at "Heroes” as Sylar’s dad (ep3.19)!
Glover had been a pivotal actor in Smallville, where he starred as Lionel Luthor until the character was killed off in season 7. Lionel was one of those characters that I Smallville fans really really love to hate, second only to his son Lex Luthor.
So I’m looking forward to Glover’s role as Sylar’s dad, the taxonomist Samson Gray. Samson Gray sold his son Gabriel to his brother for money. What kind of father gets rid of his child like that?! Hopefully, not one with a broken heart.
If Sylar has an evil streak, I expect his father to have none the less. If Sylar is power-hungry, then he must have gotten it from the father who didn’t want him. In my mind, Samson Gray is unrepentant, uncaring, and mean.
Like Father, Like Son.
The only problem with my wishful thinking is that the microwave-boy Luke seems to have taken to the old man. Apparently, the old man confessed to the boy about his past sins. That’s not right! Samson Gray has to be unrepentant, uncaring and mean. Like father, like son. (Did I say that already?)
Well, John Glover is letting fans take a peek at his character – Samson Gray – via his personal website. There you find a disheveled, gaunt old man who doesn’t look anything like evil to me. More like … pathetic.
