Since I couldn’t watch it myself, I found a recap of last night’s premiere episode of “Hey Paula.” Here it is:
Do, do you love her? We’ve all heard and seen Paula Abdul in moments that perhaps appeared as if she was not sober. She has denied such allegations. Now she has cameras following her day-to-day activities, so we can see, straight up, what it’s like to be Paula.
While getting ready for the Grammys, she put a gazillion dollar borrowed diamond jewelry on her dog, unaware that her other pup, appropriately named Chops, was munching on a ring! It was all fun and games to her, while her stylist, Kiley, was about to have a heart attack. But all the gems were fine. No harm done…. which wasn’t the case when the people behind the Bratz doll movie didn’t contact her until two months after she was done designing and preparing wardrobe for the flick — then called on Grammy day! How dare they? Don’t they know she’s a Grammy-winning singer and this is a big day? Paula felt like she wasn’t getting any r-e-s-p-e-c-t.
Throughout the show, Paula’s narrative pieces gave us more insight to each situation. Though she’s a bit hard to understand when she slurs. Allegedly.
She tried to show her sincere side by apologizing to Marina, the housekeeper, for having to pick up her dogs’ poop. And again later by giving her a hug before heading to the award show. Marina looked scared to death, and as if they’ve never actually conversed before. Paula also showed her self-deprecating side when she bitched about the year she won a Grammy and performed in a skimpy black outfit covered in mirror pieces that made her look fat. “What the hell do I care? The last time I had a hit record, Bill and Hillary were having sex,” she said. Uh, what? Was that supposed to be funny? “That’s a long time ago,” she explained to the camera.
After worrying about being on the “Worst Dressed” list again, Ms. Abdul was happy with the positive response she received on the red carpet. She was extremely unhappy after the Grammys, however, when she got to her limo and discovered her stylist and assistant did not pack sweatpants for her to wear during her flight to Philly for a QVC appearance. Instead, assistant Courtney handed her “very tight” jeans and kissed Paula’s butt by saying she brought those because she looks so good in them. “Not okay,” she snapped. “You guys need to think about those things. Not well thought out. Kids!” Once at the airport, Paula ordered Court to fetch something more comfortable from the trunk. When that wasn’t good enough, Paula spilled out her suitcase in the airport to find something she might possibly be able to sleep in on the plane.
Paula and her entourage arrived in Philly and rushed to the QVC studio only for Ms. Thang to find something wrong with the jewelry pieces she designed and was about to sell on the network. “This isn’t really my vision,” she says to the camera. She bluntly told the QVC women not to expect sales to be as great as the past because there wasn’t as much publicity this time. Way to cover your ass-ets. She made it through the 1 a.m. live show and almost sold out of her wrongly-made necklaces and such. Then, it was back to L.A.
Best moment: When Paula was searching for her limo after the Grammys, a fan yelled out, “I’m forever your girl.” She was so excited to still have a fan, she tripped. Or maybe it was a stumble. Allegedly. I’m not saying she looked like she swung back one too many mojitos in her Valentino dress, but anything is possible.
So, after following P.A. around for two days, her life isn’t really that interesting, but I must admit she’s pretty entertaining.

Oh-sorry guys I totally forgot about this statement Paula made….People should treat me like the gift that I am…..Wow…talk about someone who thinks they are god’s gift to mankind….she is off her rocker fo sho!

If you could see this disaster, I think you would agree that she needs to cut the show. I mean it is evident that she is on some strong meds. Because one minute she is crying and saying how nervous she is to do the interviews with all the bad press around her….this was obviously shot at the begining of AI when she had all that bad press about what’s in her cup….then like an hour later she comes out all happy and giddy and obviously on something! And just the whole “I’m cold” thing was a dead give away, and her assistant doesn’t help b/c he keeps trying to cover for her saying oh she’s just nervous and he is not convincing at all b/c he knows she is messing up and obviously on something…..She was fumbling and couldn’t focus and just kept looking to see where her assistant or I think he is actually her PR person but either way he is her flunkie and just collecting a check b/c if he really cared, this show would not be airing.
Ok I found an awesome review of the show…too funny!
This is my favorite part “Although Abdul continues to refute claims that she’s a substance abuser — she slurs, glassy eyed, through severe mood swings that take her from crying about people not appreciating her to snorting and laughing at her own unintelligible jokes like an overly done up gremlin.” LMAO…So on point!!!

OMG – I wish I could see this show! I don’t know why this is not airing on Bravo where I live!!!
A’kyra, is she really that bad? I’m not sure I understand why she agreed to do this show at all. From what I have heard, the show makes her seem much worse than what people originally thought. From what I’ve read, it sounds like she’s using the show to send a message: “I’m abused and kicked around by people and they make me cry.” There’s nothing wrong with it but it, at least, needs to be a bit more disguised.
What do you think it’s all about?

Paula is off the chain with her mess! She cries way too much on this show and she really needs to edit what she airs.
There was one part where she was crying and boohoo-ing about being mistreated for so many years and just being humble and taking it….I was like…STOP taking it and say something!!!! UGH!!! Then she was going to an award show where Simon presented her with an award and just before the ceremony, she was being interviewd by several different news channels and her along with her flunkie “assistant” claim she was nervous but I’m sorry, home girl was under the influence of something. I don’t buy that nervous crap for one bit…I swear she reminds you of Anna Nicole all doped up. She was stuttering and poking this one reporter and she was actually trying to get away from this crazy B*%@^ .
Then she couldn’t speak and was stuttering all over the place and was practically chasing the poor woman telling her to cut that part out where she was having trouble talking….it was a mess!
She was trying to say that she was on the “receiving” end of Simon and all his poking and whispering but all she could do was poke the woman and say “Re-Re-Re-Re Blah-bl”…It was really bad, even her “assistant was like… Oh no she crashing…but then after the whole event was over he said it went well! I think he is taking her happy pills too! :)
My whole thing was why waist so much time embarassing yourself more by trying to ask this lady to cut out that part but then she puts it in her show!! WTF!!! I’m telling you guys that part should have been cut out b/c it really didn’t look good on her at all…oh then during the interviews she kept getting cold, then hot then she would say I’m freezing give me jacket…it was a MESS!!!!!!!!
She really needs to cut the show b/c she is making a fool of herself and all the crying is just a drag!

I say we all take turns watching it each week and do a review cuz it’s that crazy! LOL

YES!!! girl it was not flattering for her. And it’s funny you mentioned Anna Nicole b/c I was going to say that. Remember that awards show when Anna came out all tore up and slurring talking about “I’m beautiful”??? That is what Paula reminded me of on certain parts of the show. She really should reconsider pulling it from the air b/c it can potentially damage not only her rep but her “Business’” Her jewlery, I would not buy that crap they showed, and her perfume!!! No telling what it will smell like cuz Paula was twisted while they were doing the testing…unbelieveable. I’m telling you the awards presentation did it for me she didn’t even TRY to fix the papers and try to give an understandable and somewhat professional speech….I will try to hunt for a video for you guys to check out.
Ha ha! Was it really that bad? I can’t really imagine it being that good anyway though. I mean come on! Who ever agreed to let that show air is a moron. All I did was look at the review and I can already tell you that “Hey Paula” sounds like a copycat of shows like “The Anna Nicole Show” or even “Growing up Gotti” that used to come on. All this is doing is giving people a chance to say more things about her suspected drug and/or alcohol problem. If she wants to build up her career, she shouldn’t give people a look inside her life which is so obviously personal. Remember when Britney and Kevin Federline made that show about their lives? All people did was trash the show and say that even though they saw Kevin take a shower her still looked dirrrty. The rumors and accusations will just continue and if anything will increase in viciousness.

Ok, So Hey Paula aired at the same time as Hell’s Kitchen so I did a lot of flipping back and forth until I couldn’t stomach Paula anymore…UGH! I’m trying to think of how to comment on her show without making all the fans of the show mad. Hmmmm, well, it was ummm typical “Paula” behavior, mixed with…I can’t even describe it in a nice way so I won’t even try.
All I can say is to each his own and if that is the kind of drama people like to see then more power to them. I will say that the part where she was putting that millions of dollars worth of jewlery on her dogs was insane. Paula just laughed as her dog was knawing on a ring! In another part I know they said Paula was “tired” but it looked more like she was sipping on her AI cup a little too long. She could barely focus during the perfume testing…she couldn’t sit still and she kept trying to cover her mid section up…she was just fidgetty. Oh, and the award ceremony in her honor…she was LATE and unorganized…I turned it off when she went to give her speech and the lady put her speech up on the podium, out of order and upside down so Paula starts to ad-lib…BIG MISTAKE…it was a train wreck of nonsense she was just babeling…sad, sad, sad…how embarassing and she is supposed to be a professional…I seriously think she needs to just cut the show and don’t air anymore episodes…yes it is comedy but, like I heard a critic say, she is going to ruin what she has left of her career. Some parts were ok but for the most part…she needs to stop…for real!
Jeanne whoever wrote the review was spot on and I loved the “Allegedly” parts….I have to confirm its all true, she did trip, she did act like a little baby, her maid did look scared and like they have never spoken before that instance, and I want to add that while she was apologizing to her maid, she did say quietly that the was some big poop and it wasn’t from her dogs…I couldn’t work for her, her assistant needs to slap her every now and then to keep her on track….I think she should hire Wanda Sykes to be her assistant, then film that!!! That would be worth watching cuz Wanda don’t play that!!! LOL ;)
Hey Jeanne, I wasn’t able to catch it this weekend b/c of my bachelorette party and the odd times they replayed it (3am come on!) but they are going to show it again tonight before the new episode so I will catch it tonight I promise; I set the cable “reminder” so I won’t forget. :)
her show was awesome. first part was just ok, second part was fantastic, i dont think ive ever seen anything like it..
